YSK: Signal is a great secure private messenger app comparable to others on the market.
  • The CEO is Russian. He formerly owned VK and sold it off to the Russian govt iirc.

He was forced out. This wasn't a voluntary thing. At least from what I had read last about it.

Yeah unfortunately I flash my phone with new roms too often to make signal a daily driver. Every time I do so I lose all my prior chats. Haven't used it in a few years though.

  • Boomers had it easier.
  • Huh, interesting. Also interesting is that it leveled off as of late. I know people like to go "muh Reagan" but what happened specifically in the 1980s? As a Republican, I dislike Reagan. I think I'm the only one of my kind.

  • What are the best phones with headphone jacks?
  • Pretty much every one of my phones so far have been on unofficial Lineage branches lol. But I do like the specs of the next Zenphone (I'll miss SD card storage but...I guess I'll get over it.) I'll look forward to it though, thanks.

I can't justify over a grand on Sony's phones lol.

  • Sallie Mae wasn't even a thing until 1973. Literally not boomers LOL. Federal student loans were very uncommon back before the 90s even and applied to only a few different areas, not everything. It is incredibly clear that something happened in the early 2000s that caused the current fiasco, with both tuition and debt skyrocketing.

  • Banned from Reddit after posting John Oliver
  • My Reddit account was permabanned because I posted (about a guy who killed a teenager who came to his house) "You know, I've changed my mind. Give this guy the chair. Not as a punishment but as a mercy. If I had grandkids like that I'd want to be mercy killed too!" The grandkid I was referring to was a screenshot of his grandon's Twitter calling him a Nazi.

Banned for "inciting violence" or some horse shit. Appealed for 30 days straight, now every one of my appeals is instantly denied by some bot.

Just be glad you don't have to spend more time in that shithole.

Redditor for 13 years I think. Same username as the one I sport on here.

  • It's not minimum wage's fault, it's the government guaranteeing student loans. Tuition skyrocketed since then and has been out of control since.

Then with so many people being told "You have to go to college so you don't become a garbageman!" the requirements for most jobs increased as well. Manufacturing in pharma, for instance, I could take a kid out of middle school and teach him the job in an hour. Get fresh grads from college for a bachelor's degree and they still need an hour of teaching. But now the Bachelors is required for some reason.

Ironically, garbage man pays pretty decent for some minimal manual labor.

  • "Economic migrants on their way to illegally invade Italy capsized and everyone died :("

Oh yeah, my heart bleeds for them. And the article is rife with "Think of the children!" pearl-clutching. It's weird but maybe you should work on your own country instead of looking for handouts and not taking children on what is probably a dangerous journey.

  • Does anyone actually use LibreOffice?
  • I avoid MS Office like the plague. Absolutely hate it. Libre Office isn't perfect, but at least it's not MS Office.

I also like Libre's Excel program much better than Microsoft's. It doesn't crash constantly, for starters.
