I wish Bear had transclusion and pinned subtags. Otherwise very happy with the app.

I don’t know of any apps but you could make it a feature request for omnivore. They’re actively working on it and taking users’ input.
I’m a bit late, but I’m using Bear (which has been updated to 2.0 now) for texts, and Allusion for images. I set up allusion to watch the folder that my screenshots are saved to, and I do a weekly review where I tag them and remove the ones I don’t need in Allusion. Works well so far.
Thanks, I’m going to look into it to see how it all works!
Looks good so far. The update was smooth and everything looks familiar enough, just a bit better. Backlinks will come in handy for sure.
Arranging and sizing app windows?
I’m very new to shortcuts but excited to learn to make my own.
I do a weekly review at the end of each workweek. On my Mac, I open my calendar, notes and tasks and go through everything. I’ve successfully made a shortcut opening two apps in Split View. With 3 apps, though, I’d like to open 2 of them on a quarter of the screen each, and one filling the other half. Is it possible to set this up in shortcuts so I don’t have to manually arrange and resize the windows every time?
Things 3 felt pretty expensive when I bought it (you have to pay separately for the iPhone,Mac and iPad apps - no subscription though). Haven’t had any regrets about it since, I hope to be using it for many more years. The app is simple, but has everything I need it to do. I’ve tried so many task management apps and sites but Things works best for me.
The Evergoods MHP 3.5L has quickly become my go-to everyday bag. I choose it because I like my pockets empty, prefer hip packs and wanted it to fit a water bottle and something extra to wear. I haven’t had the bag for very long, but so far it does not disappoint. Well made and I like most of the design choices they made. It’s very comfortable to carry, for me.
If it becomes a subscription, I do hope they will keep Things 3 usable for those of us that do not want another subscription.
I can’t really tell from the video, are there any real difference with the clipper in Bear 1?
One thing I hope the devs will consider for a future version is transclusion. I like making summary notes for subject I have a lot of notes on. Transclusions would make that easier and better. I don’t think it needs to take away from the simplicity feel of the app, either.
It’s been a while since I really used reminders, but I believe it doesn’t make those callback links I can get for Things tasks and Bear notes. I link back and forth between them all the time, so that’s something I would miss.
Overall Things feels like it’s set up precisely for my gtd-ish workflow, whereas reminders felt like I had to work for it to function like that. I can’t put my finger exactly on what it is.
Great! They don’t show up for me on kbin yet, but I’ll check back in a few days. Great apps.
Thanks! I'm going to test if turning it will reliably disable it from turning on. That would be a wonderful solution, as it takes no extra room and it's quick to get the flashlight working again.
Thanks, I'll give that a go! Bookmarking the product.
Thanks! That won't work for in the pouch (takes up too much room), but I'll do that for storing them at home.
So I think I figured it out. Imgur wouldn't let me register for some reason.
This is what I have in the small pocket:
IMG-2391.jpg
- FFP2 mask
- Radix One card wallet
- Phone (left of the wallet in, but I took the pic with my phone)
- Maxpedition Pocket Organizer Micro pouch. It holds a hair tie, bullet space pen, paper, Olight S1R baton flashlight, rescue blanket, ear plugs, Leatherman Juice S2 multitool, mini usb stick, a strip of pain meds, some band-aids and some cash.
- 30ml deodorant spray bottle
- keys on the key leash (just a few flat keys, no big car key)
It's easy to get to when not wearing the pack as you can see. When worn, it's a snug fit and a bit tight for the pouch. If you put less in this pocket, the main pocket has a bit more room.
Pictured here is how little fits in the main pocket when I add a 27 oz / 800ml waterbottle (Klean Kanteen reflect).

alternatively, it could fit a sweater and single use poncho (got it ages ago, won't replace it with single use):

or a protein bar, 330ml / 11.6 oz drink, and rain jacket in the compression thing:

The rain jacket was a bit of a pain to pull through, but this was just a cheap basic rain jacket. I'm sure some modern UL jacket would fit easier.
This is what it looks like with the jacket hanging out.

How to safely carry battery for my flashlight?
I have an Olight S1R baton that I want to carry around in a pouch with other items.
Problem is, it keeps turning on by accident, even though I ‘locked’ it. I want to avoid melting anything, so I’m thinking about taking the battery (RCR123A) out while in the pouch.
I think I should put the battery in some kind of case then? I found a silicon case for single 18650 batteries, but nothing for this smaller battery.
Have any of you dealt with a similar issue? How did you solve it?
I haven’t looked into how to post pictures on kbin without burdening the server. I’ll figure it out! What about the MHP would you like to see? I don’t own a CAS so I can’t speak to the differences, but I feel like the buckle in the middle of the straps would annoy me when sitting down.
Evergoods MHP 3.5L first impressions
I’ve only had the pack a short while, but since it’s still quiet here I thought I’d share my first impressions. I think hip packs are a great way to keep your pockets empty and back unburdened.
I knew going in that this hip pack is big. Some reviews said it seemed much larger IRL, others said photo’s made it look bigger than it really is. For me, it’s exactly the size I was expecting. It definitely looks oversized, but that’s an okay trade-off for me, I like having the option to carry some extra items.
I’m very happy with how they’ve done the straps. The pack travels front to back without any snagging or discomfort. The strap keepers elastics are strong, I expect them to last a long time. The compression straps work as expected. I like how this gives me something to clip things on to the outside of the bag when needed. Antibacterial hand gel is something I prefer on the outside of the bag on days where I need it frequently, for example.
The smaller pocket is a bit narrower than I thought when worn. The main pocket looks bigger than I thought. It just fits a size L sweater, but doesn’t fit a slightly thicker size L hoodie. If anyone’s wondering about specific items in this pack, feel free to ask. If I have a similar sized item, I’ll test it.
The pack is very comfortable as a hip pack, a bit less so in sling mode for women it seems, but that probably goes for most sling bags. It’s still a good option, but hip pack mode is preferred. I’m a bit sceptical about the usefulness of the spacer mesh on the back pannel. The mesh seems fine, but the pack hugs your body, so I don’t think there will be that much air flow no matter the material. It does provide some padding, though.
Unlike what I’ve read about other Evergoods bags, this thing isn’t a hair and dust magnet. My cat is shedding a lot and has already slept on it, but the hairs come off by simply wiping them away with my hands. No dust to speak of either, and I’ve got the black version, so it shows everything that does get on there.
Overall, I’m very happy with this pack so far. It’s not very fashionable (to me), but I can see myself using it for a very long time. I do think they could have kept the core bag a bit smaller if they had gone with an elastic pocket on the outside somewhere, or just some straps. Also, I think the organisation in the CAS is better (except the key leash placement). That being said, this bag is good enough that if they were to address both, I don’t think I’d make the effort upgrade.
Strange. I deleted all my posts and comments and then my account a few days ago and they don't seem to be restored. Could it be a difference of manual vs automated deleting?
I miss some of those, too. OneBag exists, but it won’t be useful till people start to really participate.
