WTF happened to safe following distances?
  • Apparently inline videos are a thing now? I lost motivation to post because having to leave the webpage every time was annoying. The community didn’t completely die thanks to /u/[email protected] (thanks again), but I'm back and I’ll keep posting a least once a day.

  • Favorite daily driver?
  • I'm going to max the 5% Gas Stations and Digital Wallets quarter with my discover it in the next few weeks. Then probably go back to the amex bcp. I've been abusing the 0% intro and it's gorgeous.

  • Need Help! Where should videos be posted?

Guys, I'm trying to find the best place to post/share videos from. Imgur and 9gag work, but it's a little difficult to find the actual video on a Lemmy post. You either have to click on the name or on the hyperlink in the post's signature. Yet, those website work best on the Jerboa app.

Youtube works the best on desktop because you don't have to leave the post page, but its Youtube. And on mobile you'd have to open the Youtube app. Would it be easier to just put a link in the post body?

I haven't really tried federated sites like PeerTube because I couldn't find an instance to post on. I would spin up my own, but I'd imagine it'd get quite costly after a while. Any Ideas?

Edit: Inline videos are a thing now, nevermind.

    Is this even allowed?

    This crap is completely unacceptable.

The app has 10M+ downloads, and is already filled with ads as it is. I DO NOT want and WILL NEVER want ads as push notifications.

I'm quite sure this isn't allowed on the playstore according to the Play Console Help page. Which states:

    > Ads must not simulate or impersonate the user interface of any app feature, such as notifications or warning elements of an operating system. It must be clear to the user which app is serving each ad.

    And shows this picture:

    !

I now consider GPS Speedometer malware, immediate uninstall.

    List of subscribed subreddits?
  • I know the Infinity app has subscriptions listed in the sidebar.

I'll be damned if I knew how to find it on the official app/website, but this is what Google says:

"To see all the subreddits you're subscribed to on Reddit, you can do the following:

    • Click your username in the top right corner of the Reddit page.
    • Click Preferences.
    • Click Subreddits at the bottom of the Preferences page.
    • On the mobile website, you can also hit the magnifying glass to see the drop-down menu.

You can also see up to 250 of the communities you've joined by clicking MY SUBREDDITS near the top left of your screen."

  • What kinds of things from reddit would you like to see Lemmy avoid as the user base grows?
  • Is hiding dissenting views truly a way to make yourself more comfortable? Sure, maybe more comfortable in your beliefs, but no one should be entirely comfortable in their opinions. It gives a false sense of valediction, like the entire world believes in you, when in reality an argument could completely fall apart if challenged outside of that space.

Upvotes and downvotes don't really matter in the end. You can always find groups of people who agree or disagree with you. However, hiding opposing views doesn't make you or an opinion more valid. While it could counteract echo chambers, I personally don't see how it wouldn't make the problem worse.
