What do you use your old programming books for?

Found a new cafe today and they're using a bunch of old programming language books in their display

Is anybody using modules yet?

We've been promised modules for years now, but I haven't heard of anybody using them in a professional setting yet.

Has anybody here been using them seriously?

To boldly suggest an overall plan for C++26
  • Some basic linear algebra support would be great, even just multidimensional std::array

edit: senders & receivers would be great too alongside pattern matching. Rust really changed my mind on things

  • Long time Linux user feeling burnt out
  • Been trying out Linux mint recently and I haven't had any significant issues with it yet. I do miss some of the the tiling options that I get with windows though. I've been gaming with the steam deck, though I keep around a windows 11 desktop with WSL2 for windows only workflows and some games.

Whenever there's an issue I just RDP into the other machine for what I need, haven't had anything game breaking for me yet

  • What's the best Linux alternative to Windows for gaming
  • I think I'll keep at least one windows boot available for me to run specific games or software as not everything runs well on Linux yet. I'm excited to see how much better support on the steam deck gets soon

  • Those who struggle with motion sickness, what games do you play/recommend?
  • How much motion sickness do you get with 2D games? Looking over my steam library, I've really enjoyed things like: Crypt of the Necrodancer, Ori and the Blind Forest, Don't Starve, and Pyre. FTL is another one that has minimal movement.

There are some 3D games that don't have much motion but the list is small. Currently the only one I'm playing is the Black Book, which is primarily a card game set in Slavic pagan mythology with some 3D exploration (but minimal).

  • A new Linux dektop environment is under development - Kera Desktop
  • Interesting for sure, I never would have thought you could build an entire desktop with JavaScript. Getting support for regular Linux apps would be a must for me

Would this allow for users to customize their desktop with their own JavaScript? Not sure if I missed it, but does it handle multiple monitors?
