It’s no longer glorious to get rich in China — it’s dangerous
  • Really? You don't see how "poor unarmed tanks killed by violent protesters and their terrifying grocery bags" falsely implies the tanks acted violently?

What were you trying to say by that sentence then? Just a meaningless remark?

  • Your Heroes Were All "Tankies"
  • Nelson Mandela bombed railways, was in South Africa's communist party, worked with Cuba's communist government, and sabotaged the South African government to overthrow apartheid.

If he did any of that right now, liberals would be calling him a "tankie". And they did indeed insult him back then when he did so. It's always after the fact that liberals admit these people were in the right.

  • Why there is so much communist propaganda on lemmy?
  • I don't have kids, not very good with them as you can see ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I was like OP though when I was 17 too, so coming back a bit older might work after reading through all the great resources provided in these comments

  • China's Q1 GDP grew 5.3% in the first quarter, beating expectations
  • You're telling me that investing in the real economy instead of an overinflated real estate sector (that shouldn't be for speculation in the first place anyway) actually works? Who could've seen this coming :0

  • Russia supplies oil to North Korea as UN sanctions regime nears ‘collapse’
  • So are you concerned about the people in the DPRK then? You realize sanctions do nothing but harm those people right?

Or do you think the supposed dictators of the country would take the damage from the sanctions instead of pushing it onto the working class population?

  • Russia supplies oil to North Korea as UN sanctions regime nears ‘collapse’
  • You mean the country that the US killed 20% of the population and destroyed all infrastructure of? Then proceeded to sanction to hell because it dared to not be capitalist and allow the US's capitalist class to extract from it?

Every day the US regime — the most warmongering nation in the world that's currently committing a genocide in Palestine right now — survives is a crime against humanity. What has the DPRK done other than trying to survive under the brutal US sanctions that does nothing but harm its working class population?

  • Russia adds 'LGBT movement' to list of extremist and terrorist organisations
  • "What would happen if capital succeeded in smashing the Republic of Soviets? There would set in an era of the blackest reaction in all the capitalist and colonial countries, the working class and the oppressed peoples would be seized by the throat, the positions of international communism would be lost."

The GDR called western govs' habit of pinkwashing their imperialism — only possible because non-imperial core countries are the victims of colonialism are thus less economically stable, which is generally correlated with LGBT rights — the "political misuse of homosexuals" and had started improving LGBT rights and protections in the 80s.

If the Soviet bloc wasn't overthrown afterwards, I'm sure the rest of the Soviet states would've followed suit. Probably part of why Cuba did so too.

  • China’s words at top UN court could signal stronger support for Palestinians
  • The USSR would've simply directly funded and/or militarily supported Hamas, Hezbollah, etc. And they did do so with with the PFLP until the USSR was overthrown.

Though ig two superpowers militarily supporting opposide sides has the risk of just turning the place into a warzone like what happened with Afghanistan.
