When I applied yesterday, I was pleased (privacy reasons) to see that email address was optional, so I didn't enter it. Later I realized that meant I wouldn't get a notification of acceptance or not. Less than 24 yrs later I was able to log in, so "yay". If I discover a benefit to providing my email, I'll do so, but for now it's nice to have the option to be stand alone.
