Yeah - at this point, we're just along for the ride. There's no telling, from moment to moment, where it's going to go next.

That was me a few weeks ago.

It starts out so simple and it's got an almost puni plush style, so it looks like it's going to just be goofy and lighthearted, and then it methodically rips away every little bit of that.

I think the closest I've ever gotten to that was Rurouni Kenshin, at... let's see... 95 episodes. That was many years ago.

A few years back, and I honestly have no idea why, I watched about 75 episodes of Fairy Tail (less than half of its run) before I burnt out on it.

There's a few standard things I've watched that clock in at about 50 or 60 episodes - FMA and Brotherhood, DanMachi, SAO, Initial D and the like.

The vast majority of the things I watch seem to only last one season, or occasionally two.

Wow - that was a huge moment for Chokki-chan.

Everything is suddenly different.

After Martha's heartbreaking story, it's nice to see some simple peace and silliness.

That was adorable from start to finish.

Yeah - it sort of reminds me of Nagatoro in that the two people of the destined couple are pretty much the only people in the entire cast that don't see it as just a simple fact that they're meant to be together. They're still sorting it out and dancing around it, while basically everyone else just recognizes it and is entirely in favor.

I initially posted it without the tag because that was my opinion too. But then I reconsidered in part because of the subject matter and the one image of the cover, but more broadly because a lack of an NSFW tag is one of those things that catch the attention of self-righteous prigs who are just looking for something to be offended over, and better safe than sorry.

Yeah - this definitely felt like it was just filling in some gaps - not enough to give away any secrets, but just enough to sort of firm up the foundation, so that it can then go on with the story.

And I'm ready.

I still can't help but think that a lot of what happened in the last few chapters was petulant - that the mangaka had been pressured to add more pointless drama and tedious tropes, or resented the relative success of series that rely on pointless drama and tedious tropes, or something like that, so they spitefully just started throwing all sorts of idiocy in the last few chapters - arranged marriage, forced confession, UMAs, truck-kun and now a timeskip.

It's not just that all of those things suddenly started appearing in a manga that had been notably thoughtful and slow-paced, but that they all ended up being irrelevant. It really feels like they were wedged in there for no reason other than to wedge them in there. The arranged marriage instantly fell apart with no drama, the forced confession accomplished nothing, the UMAs remained vague and inconsequential, truck-kun did nothing and even the timeskip accomplished nothing.

Ah well... it was good for quite a while...

As I said when the end was announced, all I really wanted was an indication that they were going to live happily ever after. And that's just what we got.

And the afterword from Nanashi was touching and heartfelt, and a great way to wrap it all up.

Just caught up with it, and yeah - it's moving at a good pace and three chapters more seems just about right to wrap it all up nicely.

I had forgotten all about this one.

It's one of those that I followed for a while, then just sort of stopped bothering to read. There was never anything I disliked about it - it just never quite grabbed me.

In a way then, the fact that it's ending relatively soon, but with a fair amount of advance notice, is a point in its favor - it means there's a better-than-average chance that it'll end up a complete and satisfying story. And it'll be easy to catch up with it...

I think the oddest thing about this series is how unlikeable both of the protagonists have become.

I have to assume that it's preparatory to some rewarding character growth, but it's just sort of strange and unsettling. They both started off just sort of guilelessly cute and awkward, each in their own ways, but as we've gotten to know them, they've both revealed streaks of selfishness and disregard for other people that are really sort of off-putting.

I presume, or at least hope, that over the long term it'll be rewarding, and it's almost certainly the case that those flaws were there all along, and just not a focus initially, but still...

Protip - when, locked inside your own head and flailing about desperately, you make a decision that makes the girl you like look sad, it's the wrong decision.

The solution is simple - get out of your own head. Stop thinking of Komori as some sort of abstract who you presume thinks this and feels that and wants the other. She's right there in front of you, signaling exactly what she thinks and feels and wants and all you have to do is pay attention.

FFS - you were hurt when she forgot the birthday but then when she apologized for hurting you, you brushed her off. WTF? She's doing what you should be doing - actually paying attention to how you feel and trying to act in accordance with that, and you don't even have the decency to let her? Yeah - it's fine - good actually - that he didn't pick anyone. And it does make sense in context - as you say, Daisuke never even implied that he liked any one of them more or less than any other.

And I agree - I think what disappointed me is that even with that really impressive idea of a gigantic white day cake for them all to share, there was no real closure. There were still too many mixed messages and Daisuke still being sort of wishy-washy and imprecise. I guess he did manage to get out the broad concept but he stumbled around it too much for it to be really satisfying - to really feel like a fitting end.

Maybe we'll get something to really wrap it all up in an omake when the volume comes out.
