Leave me to hot milk for medicine (January 23, 1908)
  • "Grippe" is the German word for flu.

I know that some German words have become unpopular during WW1.

I read about e.g. the term "German Measles" being more widely used, but this literally contains the word "German"...

  • ln the traditional wood-pulp -based newspaper it really still stands out between all the "real" photos.

But these kind of images will increasingly also be crawling in there, replacing generic illustrations.

  • Not quite sure this is the right place to post it, but I stumbled upon an article illustrated with this.

Newspaper is the main one in my area with lots of subscriptions and sold at every kiosk.

Kymco’s New Motorcycle Isn’t Sure if It’s a Scooter or an Adventure Bike
  • Well... mountain bikes are something completely different actually...

But never mind, it's the same with me and motorbikes.

The look on the face of your friend after you have called his new enduro a sports bike or so - priceless!

  • Kymco’s New Motorcycle Isn’t Sure if It’s a Scooter or an Adventure Bike
  • It has been quite a common name for certain types of offroad bikes until the term Gravelbike became more widespread.

But it is still widely used (at least in Germany). An anonymous google test search just yielded roughly a 50:50 mix of motorbike and bicycle results.

And as the term describes touring capable offroad bikes typically with drop bars, I had no idea how a combination with a scooter motorcycle could look like, so that seemed to be very ominous...

Aaaand I am also not quite sure if ominous might not also be a "false friend" of the German word "ominös". Perhaps "dubious" would be a better expression?

  • Am I wrong?
  • The black spooky ghost lantern I bought years ago for Halloween has long since become an all-year-decoration, because, why not?

So let's generalize your premise a little:

August is a month, as is October.

    Reason enough, I would say!
