this can't be real. is it?
  • I think they only put them in when there's a long period with no captions. Usually at the beginning or end of a video, but I've had them during a silent/dialogue free scene in the middle of a movie before.

  • Hmm... I guess that could work...
  • I went and checked, Tuvok specifically says it'll take several hours before they can send Voyager home (though not specifically that it needed to charge). Here's the exact line:

TUVOK: Captain, I can access the system to send us back to Federation space, but it will take several hours to activate.

They'd have to prevent the Kazon from damaging or taking over the array for quite some time before they could leave. I can understand why Janeway would make the call she did, given the risk of attempting that, but also can see why she would be tortured by the what if...

  • Man, I feel like I could have written this at an earlier point in my life. I lost about that much a decade ago with strict calorie counting and kept it off for a while, always trying to ignore what my body felt like it needed and following what the math said I needed. It became so mentally exhausting that I fell off the wagon and gained it all back (plus a bit) over the past few years.

But... My doctor put me on semaglutide a few months ago (ozempic/wegovy) and man... It's like the switch flipped. When I've eaten enough, I just stop eating, no problem. Reasonable portions are actually satisfying and the urge to stuff my face is all but gone. It's like my hunger gauge has been broken all my life and this finally fixed it.

Not saying it's a miracle drug or anything (side effects can be a bit of a bitch), and talk to your doctor etc, but when you said you wish there was a pill...

  • What popular quote are you tired of hearing?
  • That's not actually true (according to Wikipedia and a few other sources, at least). The 'blood is thicker than water' saying has been around for centuries in various forms with the current meaning, and the covenant/womb variation is relatively recent, and mostly stems from a few books that claim that it's the 'real meaning' without sources or proof.

  • Pour one out for the youtubers that chased the algorithm away from what you enjoy.
  • Doesn't surprise me, Mr Beast recently posted that A/B testing showed that the classic open-mouth YouTuber Face thumbnails don't perform as well as the creepy dead smile does. Linus thinks Mr Beast is a YouTube Algorithm God (and should be president of the US!), so I'm sure he jumped on that.
