What is a first-person perspective Vampire Survivors like?!
  • It's fun, but I don't think I'll stick with it for too long. I dig the top-down stuff a lot more.

I also never got to a point where I was completely overpowered, like in Vampire Survivors, which I always enjoy.

  • World of Warcraft's monetization seems to be getting way more aggressive
  • How so? I actually think in recent years, they've gone away from making you log in all the time, with less daily quest and much better catch up mechanics, so it doesn't matter too much if you don't play for weeks or even months.

  • World of Warcraft's monetization seems to be getting way more aggressive
  • I think you're looking at this through rose-tinted glasses.

In my opinion mounts, pets, toys or whatever don't count as content, so in that case, you still get everything with the expansion and a sub.

But even if you think it's content, back in the day you also already had Collectors edition mounts and pets, the stuff from Blizzcon (before it was digital), TCG codes, etc. Not much different than today I think.

  • Stores like Epic and Steam basically screw over gamers in the long run
  • Stopped buying there a long time ago when I realised I can’t backup my purchases and have to use their platforms to play.

Many games on Steam are actually DRM-free, but of course it's not as easy as just going on GOG. You'd probably have to go to some 3rd-party website, like PCGamingWiki or SteamDB to find out.

  • Stores like Epic and Steam basically screw over gamers in the long run
  • I don't get how anyone is getting screwed over.

Also, what's an alternative? Everything is physical again? 99% of indie games cease to exist. But hey, at least you don't have to fumble around with a few accounts, although CD-keys will probably be back, which is basically the same. Or would you rather buy directly from the devs or publishers? Great, accounts for every single one. Have fun with that.

  • Square Enix fans can expect its games to "release simultaneously on each platform more and more"
  • I gave FFXIII 3 shots, putting in over 40h in total. The farthest I got was about halfway through, two years ago. I hated the game so much, that I actually stopped playing games altogether for like three months. It was completely miserable. I'm a certified FFXIII hater.

  • Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero | Review Thread
  • I have no interest in playing this game myself, but I've been watching a streamer go thorugh the story mode. The combat is whatever, probably good enough if you like this type of game. The story between all the fights is told absolutely horribly though. Lots of stuff just gets skipped over or mentioned in a single picture. Like suddenly Goku is Super Saiyan God, with no explanation or a character is dead.

  • [Hardware Unboxed] I Tested Every Game I Own on an Intel Arc GPU
  • ~250 games testet, about 90% worked without issue.

Some games were hard coded to avoid Intel graphics and would use the AMD iGPU by default (even a newer title like Alan Wake 2 did this), but after disabling the iGPU, most of those were fine.

I think like 10-15 games didn't work at all or had basically unplayable performance, maybe a few more with graphical glitches, some minor, some more noticeable.

  • World of Warcraft: 2 Million Pre-Registered Players in 2 Days for Returning Chinese Servers
  • Board game the Chinese players the option to download their account data before shutting down the servers. Whoever did that will (presumably) have the option to upload that data once the services are restored.

Extremely unlikely, Blizzard probably don't want a bunch of files that have been tempered with. Also, if it's like the data export you can also do for non-Chinese accounts, it's just stuff like transaction history, chats, and essentially your profile in a game like Overwatch (match history, stats, etc.).

Afaik neither blizzard or netease saved any of the data. Blizzard didn’t because Chinese players’ data can’t be stored on servers outside of china and netease didn’t because…fuck 'em?

I've read the exact opposite. When the servers went down Netease (or Blizzard) announced the accounts would stay and be saved.

  • What are y'all buying on the steam sale?
  • I've only heard good things and watched a Streamer playing it last year, and I want to play it eventually myself.

While I generally like Souls-like games, I never got into most Fromsoft games, except Elden Ring, so we'll see how it goes.

  • What are y'all buying on the steam sale?
  • Maybe Lies of P or Star Ocean The Second Story R, plus one or two "Survivors-like" (Halls of Torment, Death Must Die).

  • Saber is actually rescuing more studios from Embracer than was announced - and that includes Metro dev 4A
  • So they have some studios in Russia and Belarus, how does that make them Russian? They also have to studios in Denmark and Sweden, I guess that makes them Scandinavian.

  • Steam :: Steamworks Development :: Content Ratings Requirement in Germany
  • This sounds terrible. I wonder how many more games aren't going to be available in Germany, because nobody is going to go back to fill out this questionnaire for some old game.

  • FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH - Launch Trailer
  • It also stinks that the first PC version will almost certainly end up being on Epic before steam.

Square is super inconsistent with this stuff, that it's pretty hard to tell what's going to be an Epic Exclusive and what's not. I do hope there's not going to be a second exclusivity period, before it's coming to Steam though.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 dev admits Palworld will “kick our butt” next month
  • It was just a short reply about the top played games on Steam (by playtime), but of course it has to be expanded to a whole, useless article, along with a clickbait headline.

  • Which games do you dislike, but the rest of the world loves them?
  • The Trails series (Trails in the Sky and Cold Steel).

Some of the worst villains ever, and you're constantly getting blue balled. The series keeps introducing new characters, that don't matter, and just drag things out for hundreds and hundreds of hours.

Zero and Azure are great though, until they connect back to the main story at the end.

  • [Discussion] People who upgraded from a LCD Deck to an OLED Deck, was it worth it?
  • Maybe, back then I read that there are two fan models going around and one is better than the other, so who knows. Or how putting a bit of pressure on a certain spot could help, or things like that. I was toying with the idea of ordering a replacement, when the iFixit stuff was announced, but never did it and forgot about it.

So far my friend is mostly emulating older handhelds, so it doesn't get too hot in the first place, and even if it gets louder it doesn't seem to bother him for now.

  • [Discussion] People who upgraded from a LCD Deck to an OLED Deck, was it worth it?
  • I bought a 512GB LCD on release and barely used it, maybe 50h at most. I just found the fan to be really annoying. Once the OLED was announced and reviewers mentioned it was much quieter, I bought it on a whim and sold my old Deck to a friend for cheap.

The fan noise is massively improved, I pretty much don't hear it ever. I'm actually using the Deck now, probably already more than I ever did old Deck, and will look at the performance for games on it, before I buy something.

So, even though I've had a Deck since launch, I'm still pretty new to it, and can't say too many other things about the differences. It was still worth it for me.
