Calckey rebranded to Firefish
  • I joined it when the calckey.social server was less than a month old. I am definitely staying on board for the forseeable future.

www.thetimes.co.uk She thought she was unshockable, then two castrated Ukrainian soldiers arrived

For a month the two men could not tell their psychologist what had happened to them, only that it was horrible beyond words. “If there’s hell somewhere, it’s worse than that,” said one. The Ukrainian soldiers, aged 25 and 28, had been in Russian captivity — one for one month, the other for three. Af

  • Are those instances you federate with?

  • Is there a search feature? I can't find it.
  • I am not sure whether it works for communities you have yet to subscribe to, but below everything else there is the second button on the left (with those horizontal bars). It leads to a list of communities you are subscribed to, and is "topped" by a search field.

  • More Specific Science Communities
  • Most of the more general instances have a science community or something very similar. The only "split" Beehaw has thus far is having social sciences generally be placed inside Humanities.

  • On Politics and Forking
  • I do not think a fork of Lemmy would necessarily break AP federation with your instance. Heck, we even have Mastodon and Friendica accounts post and reply here. Eventually smartphone apps like Jerboa would stop working if the codebase would deviate too much, though (unless app devs start supporting both Lemmy and the fork).

Regarding your application, I am reading a lot of stuff about Reddit (and you on Reddit) in your post and maybe that was not the kind of answer the team behind Beehaw was looking for. No offense intended, BTW.

  • Poland to take 2035 fossil fuel car ban to top EU court, minister says
  • Which means I do not see enough reason for this protest.

  • What is this community about?

What is this community about? There is no description in the sidebar, while "hot could mean a lot of things if there is no context. You made me curious 😉

    Friet of patat?
  • Friet. En zoals een ander al aangaf is dat ook handiger in Vlaanderen.

  • Poland to take 2035 fossil fuel car ban to top EU court, minister says
  • Does the ban not just apply to new cars?

  • is there a fediverse imgur?
  • Because of the social aspects it may be more like Instagram than like Imgur, but there is Pixelfed.

  • How to subscribe to a kbin community in Lemmy?
  • I recommend trying to search the full link (while being logged in with a browser, not Jerboa) into search instead of @---@***.&&& because unless the there are others on your instance already subscribed it is not always going to work that way. I hope this is helful to you.

  • Linus Torvalds -- Creator of Linux -- defends gun regulation, woke communists, womens rights AND trans rights. Linux is political!
  • Otoh, his Akkoma instance should block poa.st. It is Noble of him to argue, but probably it won't accomplish much when he takes bait.

  • is it possible to create a community on jeroba?
  • Jerboa is the name 🙂 Both OP and you got it kind of wrong 😁 But your take is correct AFAIK.

  • What could Lemmy.ml do to avoid becoming the next Reddit after a decade?
  • Marxist-Leninist

Sorry for abbreviating in the previous reply, where this was not a wise thing to do.

  • What could Lemmy.ml do to avoid becoming the next Reddit after a decade?
  • The Lemmy Devs are kind of hardcore MLs, AFAIK so I doubt they will ever have an IPO, lol.
