Tim Scott drops out of GOP primary race, ending a campaign dogged by low numbers and the question of if his girlfriend was real
  • She is real, but you wouldn't know her. She goes to another right-wing cult.

  • Semaglutide (Wegovy) reduces risk of serious cardiovascular events such as heart attacks by 20% in overweight patients with a history of cardiovascular disease and no history of diabetes
  • I just stopped Ozempic (Wegovy's less potent brother), because I felt like hot garbage the entire time. I'm a type 2 diabetic, and it did a fantastic job of controlling my blood sugar, so much so I could eat rice again. But every day I felt like crap. Even after being on it for nearly three months.

Hours spent in the bathroom because I didn't know when I'd be able to go. Feeling nauseous randomly during the day.

It was awful. I don't think I ever got the GI paralysis but everything definitely slowed down. I miss the blood sugar control, but I'll have to find something else.

  • No Man's Sky and Cozy Grove mostly. Just got No Man's Sky for the switch, so I'm been learning the ropes and stuff. Still a bit lost, but I think that is kind of the point initially?

  • What game holds a special place in your heart?
  • Spiritfarer. I don't think I've ever cried harder while playing something than this.

  • MI: Regulators OK DTE plan to close coal-fired Monroe Power Plant sooner
  • I thought most of DTE's energy production came from the Fermi-2 nuclear plant?

  • What was your worst experience at work?
  • This happened about 10 years ago. In my job, we have 'slots' that we occupy for our given speciality, so my 'slot' is Engineer. Well I had just gotten my Master of Science in Systems Engineering, and my work had Team Leader System Engineering positions that had to be filled. Seemed perfect for me, the only caveat was I had to bring my 'slot' with me, which means when I left my current group, they would be down a 'slot' and couldn't immediately backfill my position until the got approval for another 'slot'.

So I send my resume over, talk to my immediate supervisor, who was supportive and on board, but I also had to talk to his boss, the manager over the group. He says he would love to support me in my career and my moving up and asked me to describe the job. I did, including telling him I would need to bring my 'slot' with me. Well, his attitude immediately changes and he said no in a very gruff way and told me to get out of his office.

I stop there a minute, and still trying to be optimistic about it, I asked if that because my work and skills would be hard to replace and that is why he is acting that way, and that I would be glad to help train a replacement and maybe even do a part time split between the two teams until my replacement was up to speed.

He looked at me, sighed, and said it had nothing to do with me, he could care less if I left, my work wasn't that stellar, he just didn't want to lose a 'slot'. That really broke my confidence as an engineer and frankly as a person to have this guy just dismiss me and reduce me down to just having physical body on his team. I ended up quitting a few months later. I wish I had some sort of karma follow for that, but I was replaced within a few days. Thank god my bosses boss didn't lose his slot though 🙄

  • Seymore is still waiting
  • softly ... don't

  • Just started taking Ozempic

My Endo just started me on Ozempic. I'm a type 2, 42 years old and I've been in the low 7s for my A1C for the last 6 months with using metformin, Jardinace, glipizide, and moderate exercise and diet changes. I am about 30 pounds over weight as well and have been having a horrible time losing any weight at all.

Anyway, I'm starting at a 0.25mg dose for four weeks then moving to the therapeutic dose of 0.5mg after, and even now while starting the 0.25mg dose, I really have no desire to eat. It's like a switch was flipped. Before, I was thinking about what to eat next constantly, was basically food fixated, and now I couldn't care less. Maybe it's partly a placebo effect, but hopefully not.

Anyway, just wanted to share my starting experiences with Ozempic. I'll come back and update as I go along with this medication. Thanks for reading!

  • searching for instances on Jerboa
  • I meant Disney Communities, not instances. Sorry, still trying to get the terminology correct.

  • searching for instances on Jerboa
  • Thank you! Honestly I thought I was doing something wrong, but with yours and the other person's response, seems Jerboa is there yet, which, I mean, is totally fine. This is all relatively new. Got spoiled with RiF (RIP). Anyway, I appreciate your response!

  • searching for instances on Jerboa
  • Oooooooh! This is awesome thank you!!

  • searching for instances on Jerboa

Going to the search feature doesn't seem to yield any results when I search for things. Ex: I want to find Disney instances, but typing in 'Disney' in the search field provides no results.

I am on an instance that is at version 0.18.

    Any help is appreciated!!

  • Just downloaded Jebora yesterday and I'm really liking it. I initially tried the lemmy.ml website as my first steps into the fediverse, but was sort of confused on how it all linked together. Jebora was a big help for me in finding instances to follow and just generally making my user experience better overall.

    So I second this recommendation.
