Choc red or choc pro red keyswitches?
  • Fair enough, I live in Germany which is exceedingly convenient for the hobby. Around when I decided to build my first keyboard, there was a convention a few hours away by train. Went there and tried out all these testers and keyboards that these super nice people were providing. Based on what I've always liked, I thought I wanted a 20-40g linear low profile switch, but turned out I loved Kaihl sunset, which was tactile and 55g or something.

So, yeah, if you're not sure, best to try to get some testers. Good luck!

  • Can you order some testers first, or maybe ask around in a local keyboard group if someone can let you try their keys? I find it to be the easiest way to figure out what's actually comfortable.

  • When you moved to a reduced ergomech, how long did it take for you to adapt to layers?
  • I've got a 42 key cantor at home, previous keyboard was Logitech K860. At work we get these standard full sized keyboards that come with the PCs we order. I've had no real issues switching, apart from the first two days of getting used to the layout. Sometimes I'll hit the XCVB keys wrong, but that doesn't bother me too much.

  • [QUESTION] What are some of your favorite spicy/super flavorful dishes?
  • Korean pork BBQ This is a pretty spicy dish that's not too hard to make. I usually end up substituting a couple ingredients but it always come out nicely.

Tuscan Chicken Not exactly spicy, but it's such a flavourful dish that I just have to recommend it. A huge amount of sun-dried tomatoes gives this dish a distinctive taste. I usually add whatever vegetables I feel like and it always come out great.

  • My first build - Cantor
  • Thanks!

I've been using Logitech ERGO K860 at home before this, so maybe I've just gotten used to the wrist rests. I've noticed that I lift my wrists into the air when I type on the Cantor, so I thought I needed some support. It's actually not uncomfortable and I don't type a lot, so I'll take your advice and try a little longer with this setup. I'd honestly really like to avoid taking up the space on my desk, since I like to write on paper.

  • My first build - Cantor

Finished my first build, it turned out prettier than I expected honestly. I got a diodeless kit because I had never soldered anything before, it was quite a fun learning experience. Also my first mechanical keyboard, I'm really enjoying the feel of the keys (Kailh sunset).

I was really worried about adapting to the column-stagger, I've only used the regular row-stagger before, but after one hour of practice I was already typing at about half my normal speed, so I'm pretty happy.

I do feel that I need wrist rests though. not sure how to fix that yet.

It's Friday - What are your plans for the week-end?
  • Going to work on my thesis on Saturday, but I should have some time between experiments to practice some soldering for my personal projects. Board games and video games on Sunday, been a long week need to unwind

  • Hexcodle #374
  • I got Hexcodle #374 in 5! Score: 57%

Thanks for sharing, I quite liked it!

  • What have you played this week?
  • I'm pretty big on deck building, although I can't get into poker or MTG. This game though, I don't find it at all similar to regular deck building games.

You get a HUGE amount of resources(cards) to play with, and progress can be made in many many ways. The game is really forgiving about mistakes, and doesn't punish for not taking the optimal route, if there even is such a thing in this game.

The real challenge is in keeping track of your available and unavailable stuff. I play on dual monitor with 6 pages of spreadsheets and two pages of the wiki open, which is probably not how everyone enjoys gaming, but I really enjoy it.

  • What have you played this week?
  • Book of Hours. I'm normally not big on simulation games, but life has been frustrating lately, so I'm really enjoying the cycle of unlocking rooms, reading new books, improving skills, unlocking more stuff...

  • Recommend me books with black magic?

I really liked the Black Magician trilogy. I'd love to read more books that have 'evil' magic as a major component of the plot, preferably with some kind of trope subversion.
