Introducing - Pokemon: The Origin of Species

Empty communities are boring, so I've decided to get things bootstrapped with a regular series of posts from the world of Pokemon. This story by DaystarEld is one of my favorite stories, fan fiction or no, and it gave me a reason to revisit my childhood obsession which I always enjoy. Here's the premise:

> Enter the world of Pokémon from a rational perspective. Instead of starting his journey in ignorance, Red has spent his years studying the creatures so central to his world... and he doesn't quite agree with all the information in his books. No time for rookie mistakes here: he's on a quest to discover the true nature of Pokémon, and maybe even find out where they really come from.

The series is ongoing, but was first published in 2013 so we'll start at the beginning. I plan to post next chapters on Tuesdays and Fridays. Enjoy!

Sustainability is Important
  • I actually wouldn't mind some biodegradable landmines that were only dangerous for 5-10 years or something. Imagine if we had those in WW2 Europe or Vietnam, those places would be much safer now if we did.

  • "take a few months off and take care of yourself"
  • I'd say do some exploration to find and/or pursue some activity that makes you happy that you don't normally have time to do, or don't prioritize. Spend some time in nature if possible. Give yourself permission to do something for yourself instead of for someone else.

If you're at all like me, you have a laundry list of projects that you are interested in but never get around to working on. That's always a good place to start.

Good luck, I'm rooting for you!

  • politicians
  • I agree in principle, but I'm not sure what a good alternative is in the US today. In a crisis the laws would have to stay ahead of the executive responses to novel situations, and the legislature couldn't pass a law that fast if there was an angry mob at the door.

  • Today (2024-05-15) is Rooster Teeth's final day of operation.
  • It's one of life's great mysteries, isn't it? Why ARE we here? Are we the product of some cosmic coincidence? Is there really a god, watching everything? I don't know man, but it keeps me up at night.

I can't believe I'm able to type that from memory 20 years later. RIP RT
