it's honest work
  • I'm currently working on advertising for r/EndFPTP

I downloaded the app specifically just to help, and I'll delete it when I'm done.

I figure taking down the duopoly is more important than taking down Reddit for a day.

  • Served way better depends on what you're goal is. For some people, the loud bang is the whole point. We've got 2 days a year where we shoot off fireworks, and everyone knows when they are. Only the animals are surprised. If we argue about necessity well just end up in the kind of argument that can logically lead to voluntary extinction. The amount of environmental disruption we consider acceptable is a matter of opinion, but it ain't ever zero.

  • Freight train carrying hot asphalt, molten sulfur plunges into Yellowstone River as bridge fails
  • Yeah, I agree. It's not hard to build infrastructure that lasts forever, it's just no one wants to pay for it.

  • We've been warning about dangerous infrastructure for years now. It'll only get worse until we start building for the next millennium.

  • Honestly? Even though Trump fans don't give a shit about rational arguments, it's nice to know they can't pretend there's no recent precident for charging a president's family with crimes.

  • I left signal when they dropped SMS support. It was just the last straw in a line of changes that showed they didn't give a shit what their users thought.

  • Follow hashtags and follow more people. "The algorithm" doesn't decide what you see, you do.

  • You can switch back to 3 and 2 button navigation in the settings if you want. I use the 3 button navigation. I use all three buttons.

I think it's their way of admitting gestures is stupid. Gestures makes it unclear where the OS UI ends and where the app UI begins. A completely shit idea.

  • Just giving you shit. Happy to have you!

  • Do you know what a float trip is?
  • Does Seattle have rivers you could easily float down? You gotta have lots of flat land to get a nice calm river.

Anyway, it's a thing in Illinois, I know that.

  • Pixel 7 with a case but no screen protector. I realized that scratches on the screen are easily avoided and breaking the screen won't be stopped by a thin piece of plastic.

It seems to me like most phones are designed with the idea that you'll use a case. Trying to use the phone without a causes my palm to hit the screen constantly, resulting in errant touches my phone tries to respond to.

Ideally this phone lasts forever, that's the idea, anyway.

  • Why did/do people refer to TV as "boob tube"?
  • Furthermore, why is it so important to read old writing in the original script? Would that really change the meaning any?

  • They still got the frame completely wrong, unless there's a different radio segment I didn't hear. The one I heard was mostly from an expert I had never heard from before who made it seem like "the developers" were mad because they had to pay. They included a single throwaway line from Chris. (I think that's the Apollo dev's name.) No mention they the pricing was clearly intended to be unreasonable.

  • Ahh! Oh no! Who could have ever foreseen these consequences??

  • Kinda interesting that somehow because it's across a gender line people find it icky, but I've never heard of anyone being scared they'll get a kidney that's the wrong gender.

  • If I were world dictator I would just make advertising illegal. It's the perfect dictator move. Simple policy that's hard to enforce which will almost certainly have unintended consequences. But God damn do I hate advertising.
