  • I like the look of Cu lights and I have owned one, but I am just not careful enough with them to keep them looking the way I want. I know I know patina and all that but after a year my copper light was just kinda meh and dirty looking.

  • How can I stop birds from flying into my windows?
  • It's not necessarily the predator thing that scares them away. The most important part is breaking up the reflection on the outside. The anit-collision stickers will work well for this. Look on amazon or at a local hardware store, they come in many patterns and shapes, just pick one that you like. You can also hang a couple old CD's in front of your windows from fishing line. People do that where I'm at to scare off woodpeckers from their house and it should work for other birds too.

  • Very cool, glad you had someone to teach you this amazing art form. And thanks for sharing your creations with us all. Are there low value gems that you practice on before cutting more expensive ones? In your post you talked about refractive index of the gem itself, does that really vary between gem types enough to make certain gems react different to certain designs?

  • This is such an interesting and weird hobby to have. Thanks for taking the time to write up this explanation. I've always wondered how this was done. How did you get into cutting stones as a hobby? It seems like the barrier to entry is incredibly high.

  • yeah thats understandable. if only they weren't so damn cryptic haha. Sometimes you can get a good idea of the spores if you can see them on the ground under the mushroom or on the stipe sometimes. depends on how much airflow the caps get wherever they popped up though.

  • What beans are you using?
  • My go to over the past few months has been camillia coffee roaster's ethereal blend. I've found it pretty forgiving of my evolving techniques and the flavor is great in amercano's to iced drinks. Rich with plenty of texture. would highly recommend

  • Favorite Science Fiction Books
  • I don't see many people recommending Ancillary Justice, but really enjoyed the series. I thought it was a pretty light read as far as Sci-fi goes, but it ticked all the right boxes for me.
