Any Podcast recommendations?
  • Glass Cannon Podcast is the obvious one. It's high production and probably the highest profile of any PF2e podcast. There's a lot of comedy and RP is very high priority. They're playing Gatewalkers.

My current favorite is MNMaxed. They're currently going through the Blood Lords AP. They're an actual play podcast with very competent and entertaining players and GM.

  • There's more reasons to feel old than just old memes
  • I don't know where people grew up that actually had cliques like that. It was just t-shirts and shorts or jeans while I was in school. There was no real trend chasing or trying to look gangster. Southern California here.

  • Biden confronts a 'pissed-off generation' of young voters who may be decisive in 2024
  • The DNC doesn't have any involvement in local candidates, they're only concerned about the presidency. You probably mean the DCCC if you're talking about a house rep. DNC is not short for the Democratic party, it's a specific committee.

  • DeWalt. My father in law bought us some battery powered DeWalt tools as a house warming present, and I continued buying more DeWalt battery powered tools as I needed them since I already had the interchangeable batteries and charger. They've all worked well for me so far. When I eventually kill my drill bits I'll get Milwaukee replacements.

For hammers, Estwing is the only option. My workhorse hammer is >40 years old and still in great working condition and I abuse the hell out of hammers.

  • What's a company secret you can share now that you no longer work there?
  • Did you guys sell to the US Midwest? My parents tried a satellite service and it went quickly from the best option available to them absolute trash. They switched back to their <1 mbps local ISP after a few months.

  • Empress forgot to take her meds again
  • Empress has a long history of narcissism and delusions of grandeur. I hate to link back to reddit, but there's a good but outdated writeup on hobbydrama. She's only gotten worse since and is now going hard on bigotry. She's trying to form her own little cult too.

  • YSK that “neoliberal” refers to a discrete set of economic policies including deregulation, privatization, and so-called “free trade” implemented by both center-right and center-left parties
  • Communism is the communal ownership of all means of production (not just the workers owning the place they work at like socialism) and communal distribution of resources based on need (ideally). A hippie commune where everyone works a job and everyone is distributed food, goods, etc. based on their needs without money being involved is a solid, small scale model of communism, though there are a lot of issues and various theoretical solutions when it's scaled up beyond a group of like-minded individuals who all know each other. In theory such a society is classless and has no use for currency. The reality is such a society has never actually existed and things fell apart along the way, usually by someone seizing power in the transitionary period and the state becoming a dictatorship instead.

For small scale references, worker cooperatives are a good example of socialism and communes are a good example of communism.

  • What’s your white whale?
  • Hypernauts (1996). It's an old TV series that was cancelled part way through airing. I found a complete season on a TV archive project website, but it's 480p and has baked in Japanese subs that obscure a lot of the screen. The show itself isn't great, it's just something I'd like to collect.
