I do love German humor
That's not a meme
Yeah, it was one of these when I was in the army: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Precision_Lightweight_GPS_Receiver
This didn't necessarily precede civilian GPS devices, but this was during the accuracy "embargo." Certainly though, GPS devices available to the public were cost prohibitive at that time. Later, someone bought me a Garmin for because they thought it would be useful to me in the military. I didn't have the heart to tell them I'd never need it because of the existence of very accurate military GPS devices. It was a very thoughtful gift from a family member who was a veteran
I couldn't possibly be more excited about a video game than I am right now
That's the movie that introduced me to Elliot Smith!
Oh, you ARE an asshole on purpose. This all makes much more sense
Hi, man here. I obviously can't speak for women, but I can answer your question from my perspective.
"Girl" is a term used for young, inexperienced, non-adult female humans. When you call an adult woman a girl, you imply that she, her thoughts, and opinions are juvenile, and therefore are not to be taken as seriously as those of an adult of equal standing among other adults. It's called "infantilizing" and is disrespectful to that women, and realistically to all women.
For a moment, imagine you're with another man you don't know and when you say something, he contradicts you and begins to address you as "boy" or "son" in his response. His intent is to diminish you as a person and make you feel small, inferior or less a man or expert as him.
Now, I don't know what country you come from or if English is your first language; this cultural aspect can apply to other English speaking countries, but specifically I'm talking about the US. One could certainly be forgiven for speaking English as a second language or not being from the US and not knowing this specific thing. I hope this helps.
One last edit, or this is going to bother me:
Really... Being called girl is offensive now 🙄...
Responding like this makes me think you're just an asshole and not interested in the actual reason, so perhaps I've wasted my time with you. That's ok, because maybe there are other people out there around who can read this and then correct you in public for this shitty behavior
I just put myself in that scenario and had the thought "man, what if she's flustered about something else, and having a rough day in general, then I go and swoop in and basically accuse her of being poor in public. She'd feel terrible and I will have made her day worse."
You would have walked out of there feeling like shit in two of the three ways that could have gone. Don't beat yourself up over it; clearly you're empathetic and care about people. That tells me you DO act when it's appropriate and you do want to be a positive force in this world. Congratulations! The world is better with you in it
No, but maybe I'll find out when you hand me your driver's license, registration, and proof of insurance like I asked...
I can't speak for anyone but myself, but I personally think it's telling of a person's character, which is inextricably entwined with how they perform their jobs (especially those in public service). For me, it's not an absolute deal breaker, but it's heavily weighted if I was considering voting for that person
Jesus fucking christ, that was such a good joke. His ignorant / accidental(?) racism as a caricature was so funny to me because I know so many people like that
I live in a city where most popular bands tour, but I definitely would travel internationally to see a show just to make a week out of it. I was considering going to RAtM when they were in Europe, because I couldn't get good seats in the US. I definitely would have gone if I could have gotten better seats in Europe. Alas, couldn't get good seats there either
I haven't seen it a million times (3-4, maybe?), but the word "flibbertigibbet" lives in my head rent free
Seriously. He has a significant body of "work" on which to draw from. Like almost a decade of televised rambling, hip shot word salads...
I've only rated the velvet underground and nico album one star because I personally don't consider it actual music. Because of that, I have a hard time rating music I "just don't like" as one star because it's recognizable to me as music. So, I rated this one two stars.
I was surprised to see you rated a Clapton album so poorly because I like him (musically) quite a bit. We have really different tastes, and I think it's cool to know there is stuff that absolutely is not for me that is a five star album for someone else
Really? Wow.
New one for me: treasure by the cocteau twins
I have literally never seen anyone idolize homelander. This is like Marilyn Manson getting his ribs removed so he could suck his own dick: often repeated, never substantiated
I watched the Challenger disaster on the wheelie TV cart
