Removed Kbin.social communities
  • You can technically use Artemis for kbin though at the moment it only supports artemis.camp (another kbin instance) and I don't know currently how long it is until other kbin instances work as well.

  • PSA: the largest piracy community is blocked from lemmy.world
  • I don't think there's anything set in stone, really. Or if it is it was Tl;Dr for me.

But in the past we used to vote (with upvotes/downvotes and or opinions in form of comments) on decisions or at least some instances/communities did/do it like that.

I don't know about any vote having been done on this decision though since I'm pretty sure if there was this decision wouldn't have been made.

Though from the view of the Admin I can definitely understand blocking piracy communities, because if someone uploaded copyright infringing content on any instance, every instance that federates with it would get into major trouble for (1) cloning such content and (2) making it available to more users. Kind of like torrenting without the P2P aspect.

  • Vim is just way better than Vi if I have to use it to actually change more than a few characters in a text file/config.

It's probably just me but with Vi I struggle with inputting any text because I'm used to using the arrow keys to navigate. It keeps putting a 'B', in particular, and newlines whenever I want to navigate text.

  • If I was poor I'd focus on having enough money to pay the bills instead of buying a Deagle every 6 months or whatever. Their argument is baseless and they have no point. It also has cero to do with LGBT anyways. I dislike these republitards immensely.

  • There's a person who is spam creating hundreds of communites with impossibly long descriptions on world, why haven't they been banned yet?
  • I wouldn't attribute it to karma whoring and more to just being uninformed. Anyways, "Karma" exists on Lemmy, it's just not displayed explicitly on the website and you'd need an app for it that shows the count (e.g. wefwef/voyager which shows your comment/post score).

  • That's not the mentality of a small child that's the mentality of someone who actively refuses to take their medicine. There definitely has to be some underlying problem with them, if I were this mad I 1. wouldn't do this and 2. would be over it within 2 minutes at most. This user can get fucked.

  • Lemmy.world (and some others) were hacked
  • How do we know that this isn't a fake announcement as well, trying to give us a sense of security???

Just kidding, thanks for letting us know! Thank god I haven't been too active the last few days! Can't afford my credentials being leaked, maybe I should be proactive and change my password anyways.
