How does Lemmy (Mander in particular) sort "hot" and "active" posts?
  • Almost under a day. I can now see .world, midwest.social, .ee and others in my feed.

  • Version update and server upgrade!
  • Yay, down to one week delay. Looking forward to catching up.

  • kbin.social federation issue
  • Lets hope this migration fixes a bunch of federation issues. Right now I am hoping these issues are all related.

Can't wait until we can see all of lemmy again.

  • How does Lemmy (Mander in particular) sort "hot" and "active" posts?
  • Well we would also not want to be here if .ml was favoured over any other instance, that would kinda make the idea of federation a bit pointless.

  • Hmmmm, and it does not help the controversy when this issue seems to happen to then fill smaller instances with .ml posts.......

  • Yeap, no point in using mander right now ether.

I checked and mander does not seem to block .world (kinda why I liked this instance) and even weirder is how my feed gets filled with mostly .ml posts with almost no activity no matter how I sort. > > This did not happen before and got me thinking, I don't even know how this works across federated instances. > > Does anyone know: > > - How does the sorting work on an instance? • Well there is a big issue with LW to any smaller instances if this is working like you think. Right now being on mander is like having less then half of lemmy and I would guess that if it can happen with mander it can/is happening with others.

  • Why assume knowledge of how the fediverse functions the core of all issues? This is a bad move and is a bad look, we have no tools to move instances, these are real issues.

  • Removal of piracy communities
  • But we have no tools to migrate users or communities. We can not vote with our feet so much as start over and over and over.

  • Removal of piracy communities
  • Did they get any? I mean I have got some and I don't even host anything at all. I am wondering what they did or did not get in relation to legal action.

  • becoming the largest then cutting off others for a second.

  • .world took those 100k happily and with open arms........

  • Removal of piracy communities
  • The advertisement and push they did on sites like reddit and their listing on join-lemmy.org (when they where still listed) made them the biggest instance. And with the name Lemmy.world they did nothing to dissuade anyone from thinking that. If this was all randos pushing the instance then boo to them, but I also saw nothing from .world not claiming to be the bigger instance(super lemmy)

  • Removal of piracy communities
  • .world is (correct me if I am wrong) the largest lemmy instance if they pre-cave before even a dmca is issued then what if any instance is able to "fuck around". Oh and "fuck around" seems to be in this case hosting links.... an issue well trod in court.

  • Removal of piracy communities
  • But they are the ones putting themselves up as the superlemmy instance? They are trying to convince people this is the new reddit but somehow that there would be nothing questionable posted?

  • Removal of piracy communities
  • Has this been the case in any court yet? Actually asking not just being an ass.

  • Removal of piracy communities
  • Are you actually childish enough to whine that people are using a comment based website to comment?

Last month, Sri Lanka’s electricity company cut power to Shanti’s home in a town near Colombo, where she lives with her sixteen-year-old son. Shanthi lost her job last year during a severe economic crisis still roiling the country.

I think I should know more about Finland, I always seem to like watching politicians do a racism then attempt to spin it into not a racism.
