Record-breaking heat wave expected to extend stay in the West
  • Ahh it's a bit different if all your buildings were never made with such temperatures in mind. Not to mention if you've never seen such temperatures in your usual day to day.

We get around -2c to 40c+ where I live depending on the season, summer here floors people from colder climates.

  • There are far too many loopholes for me not to hate companies be they small or large.

In Australia, "family trusts" are a sure way to write off a good chunk of your expenses (groceries, fuel and so on) while paying yourself a wage. If you really want you can cook the books taking cash sales for yourself too.

Don't forget about "taking" whatever you want from the company, and writing that off as a loss.

Maybe I should hate people, but in a vacuum people are reasonable, logical and honorable. But once we introduce a "well maybe" or an "but what if I were to purchase fast food and disguise it as my own cooking?" my view of people becomes skewed.

I guess, I wanted to vent about how fucked everything seems to be and that I feel powerless to do anything about it. GameStop as a company probably deserve the rocks in boxes, Amazon deserve them too, all because people are running those companies.

I'm not above greed, but I'd like to think / feel that I put out more than I take and it seems quite uncommon in our modern society.

  • Ahh yeah the price is a waiting game for me, Apple products hold onto their value and for me having the bleeding edge isn't what I'm chasing these days.

Guess I'll wait and see how the Qualcomm products go on the used market for their price.

I got my 4800hs for a steal; maybe I need to aim lower.

  • Linux on Qualcomm laptops really that bad? I've been considering a purchase of a 1st gen once the 2nd gen comes out (probably grab an ex display model on the cheap).

I've not been following developments closely enough, but I know the battery life (in windows at least) is tiers better than my current 4800hs / 1650 with 65% battery health.

I've too considered a MacBook, but their never within my budget for the spec that I want, guess I was too hopeful about Qualcomm laptops 😞

  • Oh no no, that's the best part.

You pay us (OneDrive Subscription) and we will store, scrape and monetize everything you've ever done on your "personal computer".

    Thanks for choosing Microsoft products.

  • Gives me Sonos vibes.

I won a Sonos speaker years ago, thing needed (from memory) an app to switch to AUX mode. The speaker sounded great but I didn't want to install an app just to use the thing.

In a grand spectacle my ex's cat kicked a potplant off a windowsill into our fish tank. That shorted a power board, we didn't have breakers (ceramic / wire fuses) which ended up killing the speaker.

Honestly as nice of a speaker it was, good riddance.

Running through a good portion of my life never really being able to get anything done, not going anywhere and just kinda existing.

I hope that your getting treatment, and it's making an impact in a positive way ❤️

  • He got double doubled.
  • I've seen Intel NUCs hanging from the backs of signage displays in Macca's when I lived in Melbourne. I guess pushing updates to the menus would be easier. My company used Raspberry Pis in our showrooms - admittedly it was implemented horribly. They all used SD cards which ended up failing due to write wear.

Interesting about the new models, would be keen to get my hands on one 😅
