What's the best graphics card thats worth getting to upgrade an older PC?
  • If you're looking second hand :
    Nvidia: 2060 or better
    AMD : 6600xt or better.

I wouldn't bother with older generations at this point, I'd also be a touch hesitant to go with much newer, unless you're willing to bring the GPU forward to your next build.

  • Help me pick between these two monitors.
  • How bright is the environment you'll be using it in & what is the cost difference in your region?

Personally, I'd be leaning towards the Acer. But if you operate in a really bright environment the AOC may be better for your needs.

HDR10 isn't that big a deal at the brightness the ACER is capable of, but is a nice to have, ditto HDMI 2.0, chances are you'll be using display port anyway.

  • What mid tier network adapdter (WiFi and Bluetooth) do you recommend and why?
  • I would avoid USB as the range is shit.

After that, I'd go for this : https://pcpartpicker.com/product/mMJgXL/edup-ep-9651gs-80211abgnacax-pcie-x1-wi-fi-adapter-ep-9651gs

It's $1 dearer than the slightly cheaper options, but it looks better & honestly that's all it comes down to, these all use the same intel chipset.

Just make sure you plug in the antennas for range & make sure to use the card-> USB header cable for bluetooth.

  • Thoughts on build?
  • This'll be fairly straight forward.

    • Case still has a PSU shroud to hide cable clutter.
    • I've opted for an m.2 SSD so you don't need to worry about cables to storage.
    • Air cooler isn't too big, so doesn't interfere with any other components.
    • GPU is 270mm, case has 320mm GPU clearance.

All in all, it's smaller than an ATX case, but still very easy to build in with the components above.

  • Thoughts on build?
  • I'd opt for a Ryzen system over 12th gen intel now. Similar cost, more performance, less power usage & an upgrade path.

I've opted for a microaTX case / mobo as smaller builds are a personal preference of mine.
