Lemmy is blowing up
  • the reddit blackout is for like two days i expect that 90% of them will stick to the two days and business as usual afterwards. their bottom line is to continue running mods of their communities, even if they acknowledge that was is going on with reddit is bad. they shouldnt have announced a scheduled, limited blackout.

i expect some fringe communities to come here and stay but it will always be business as usual on reddit

therefore Lemmy needs to have a reason for people to stick around, communities offering something that isnt otherwise available, even just a refreshing change of community culture

  • Time to dust off the sub: What you playing?
  • I'm playing Red Dead Redemption 1 and Undead Nightmare on Xenia at the moment.

I can't stress enough how incredible it is to be able to not only be able to play it without the glitches and bugs from the updates, but in 60fps in my fairly mid tier system. My friend with an RX470 and was able to play and complete with 30fps 1080p.

It's as good as one can wish for in terms of having a PC port. Performs better than on console, higher framerates than PS3/Xbox 360 even at the lower end of hardware, and minimal input lag as compared to playing it on my Xbox One X.

The fact that the game is so inaccessible for multiple reason; not available in the PS store, no PC port, only available for Xbox users but Undead Nightmare has game breaking bugs...

It's a literal game-changer, and this was only possible since August last year. Ive heard RSPC3 has always made huge strides in emulating RDR1 which I intend to try because of its FSR support.

  • Why do you continue to play or keep up with Red Dead Redemption?

Just a general discussion to dust off the sub

The game is nearing 5 years now, and 13 years for it's predecessor RDR1. Yet the community is one of the largest and thriving and continues to grow everyday. It has been a consistent top seller in Steam since the start of this year. Despite the fact that Rockstar games has mostly abandoned it.

There's something about Red Dead Redemption which keeps the fanbase continuously interested and talking about this game.

So considering all of this, what is it about this series that keeps you playing? And if you're to the series, what are you enjoying/not enjoying about it so far?

This cutscene reveals how Arthur Morgan is a Rockstar's modern adaptation of the Knight Percival...

This cutscene is the only time RDR 2 had one of these enigmatic Strange Man encounters like in the first game. There's a lot to unpack here, and I've already drafted an absurd amount of detail linking the Arthurian Mythos with Red Dead Redemption. It seems very apparent that the writers intentionally based Arthur Morgan on the Knight Percival and how this revelation links to the Van der Linde gang.

And as I work to put all these pieces together I'm going to write it up. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on this and how it elucidates the broader narrative of Red Dead Redemption
