What Is Wrong with Canada’s Conservatives?
  • Unfortunately, The Honorable Leader of HM Official Opposition Mr Polievre is quite likely to sleepwalk into a job as Canada’s next Prime Minister. The current PM is so reviled by Canadians (according to polls - a type of lie know as Statistics), it seems possible that no one in the Liberal Party will be successful in the next election. I’m ashamed to say it’s a good time to be an ex-pat.

  • What family sayings did you think was universal?
  • Vigorous shaking mixes the thicker areas (where the sauce has settled) and the thinner (more watery) areas so they now have the same viscosity (pouring characteristics). Most importantly, this lets the mass of sauce slide cleanly down the bottle, helping the air bubble to also slide up in one unit at the same time, preventing the “air-lock” blockage at the opening. Important Note: Before vigorously shaking any container, ensure that the cap is truly secured! Now you are in control!

  • What's you favorite song lyric of all time?
  • “And it's whispered that soon if we all call the tune Then the piper will lead us to reason And a new day will dawn for those who stand long And the forests will echo with laughter”

    • Stairway To Heaven

In keeping with their embrace and transformation of The Blues, Led Zeppelin lyrics are hopeful in the face of sadness.

  • what are you excited to watch this weekend (June 21)
  • I am looking forward to the anxious and exciting frisson of waiting for Monday, when the Edmonton Oilers will lift “the hardest trophy to win in professional sports”, the coveted Stanley Cup, to trophy of the NHL! Meanwhile, the hopes of me and my fellow Canucks may well be dashed before the weekend barely gets started.

  • But we ARE under siege by immigrant cultures. Islamic values that are displayed every day in every city in Canada are not compatible with the Western Christian values I was raised on. I don’t have to be a genius to recognize that multiculturalism means my culture becomes less impactful and important in Canada, while immigrant cultures become moreso. I don’t hate the people for that. Nor do I have a solution for the erosion of, essentially, western white Judao-Christian values. Recognizing that things change and accepting that those changes are not all bad is my personal solution.

  • Security Clearance
  • I say “Yes”. There has to be oversight of the security apparatus, someone who can say “No, that is NOT a reasonable security classification.” Otherwise, only platitudes will come out of that black box of intelligence. Remember, they work for the elected government, not the other way round. Having said that, I am certain that SOME secrets are never disclosed to the higher ups.

  • Canadian Tire Flyer Promotes Savings, Tries To Hide Actual Price.

This is about the weekly flyers. Canadian Tire has been close at hand all of my life, a reliable source for things we all need now and then. Today's CTC flyer set my teeth on edge and I resolved to immediately bin this bit of advertising noise from now on. On every page, every item has a big red number proclaiming how much I could save by purchasing the item now. I hate that. When I look at flyers, I want to see what the price is! But because there are hundreds of items in the flyer, it is takes considerable effort to focus and concentrate to find the ACTUAL price. To make it worse, the "Reg Price" is printed in a different, low contrast, colour, and much smaller size than the "SAVE" starburst. I can't help thinking that by emphasizing the (supposed) savings. Canadian Tire is trying to fool me. Well I won't be fooled, because I won't be reading it ever again. I must admit I will miss it for awhile. Probably a very short while.
