The New Orleans French Quarter is easy to spot.
You missed my point. To address the issue of homelessness, you need to attack all of the underlying issues at once, not just lack of shelter.
Although I support the idea, simplifying the problem to one of only supply and demand doesn't address the core issues of mental health, substance abuse and physical disabilities that might have in great part contributed to the individual being unhoused. Along with affordable housing and free temporary housing we need to also provide free resources to help individuals get back on their feet (as a matter of speaking).
The article says that this applies to current black plastic because a lot of it is sourced from the recycling of other plastics that might have included toxic chemicals. Black spatulas from before recycling was a thing might be alright.
I have played UT on and off since its original release. I am glad that there is no way to figure out my total hours played.
I realized that I was selling myself a story based on a fantasy. FDR and Kennedy sold us on a dream, but the truth is that the US is and has been ruthless, racist, and a bit fascist since its inception. With the exception of Obama (and even then it's iffy), every administration since Carter has been very right-leaning and short of compassion (Clinton was basically a moderate Republican).
Looked at from that perspective, what gains we have made are something to be proud of. What stings is that some of those gains are going to roll back. Sisyphus something or other.
I think what would give cavemen pause would be if the house was on fire for 20,000 years.
That said, we definitely should have stayed on nuclear.
Barring special circumstances, the looks you are born with matter very little. What matters more is your presentation.
First, take care of your skin suit. It is the only one you own, it's the one you have to wear, and it is the one everyone else interacts with. Hygiene. Grooming. Basic fitness. This doesn't mean that you have to have a specific body type. This means that whatever body type you have, it has to be healthy. You can be heavy built and be fit and healthy. If you do not take care of yourself, why would some trust you to take care of them or their stuff?
Second, you have to prepare excessively. I always assume that I am not ready, so I over prep. Being prepared fills you with confidence. Being confident makes other comfortable and helps them trust you. There is no such thing as being too ready.
Third, keep your mouth shut and listen. Do not just hear...listen. This helps you better understand your situation, what others need, what to avoid, etc. When you do finally open your mouth, speak clearly, succinctly, and with confidence because you now know what is needed and you came prepared.
Bottom line is that, like all magic tricks, it is all about the prep work.
Of course, but first you need to figure out what your true definition of "better off" is. What would bring you true quality of life. Also, what would you trade off in order to achieve that quality of life? The answers to those questions are very individual.
Your forties are around the corner.
American tourists
at a foreign airport:
I am currently in Central Florida, so I tend to hit the parks (Disney, Sea World, Universal) after work and during weekends. I normally just walk around as if I was strolling through Central Park. I can tell you that American tourists do not behave any better in their home soil.
Depressed middle-aged appeal is apparently a thing. Never in my life was I hit on more (by women and men) as I did when I hit my forties and my hair turned gray.
Come to think of it, that diagram is super accurate. When I was in my teens (elvish) and twenties (line cook) it felt like was living in a sex avalanche, but when I hit my thirties, I became invisible. Thirties doesn't meet any of the three criteria.
I think this entire response thread is too young. Back when you connected to the Internet with 14.4k and 28k modems (mid to late 90's), websites were as OP described. Simply put, there was no bandwidth for too much extra crap.
A tough but amazing read. Very well put together.
Not a joke.
Nobody should be on that cesspool.
The satirical newspaper plans to shutter Jones’ InfoWars and rebuild the website featuring well-known internet humor writers and content creators, according to a person with knowledge of the sale.
“The Onion is proud to acquire Infowars, and we look forward to continuing its storied tradition of scaring the site’s users with lies until they fork over their cold, hard cash,” said The Onion CEO Ben Collins. “Or Bitcoin. We will also accept Bitcoin.”

Not The Onion, but yes...The Onion.
The lawsuit against Arthur M. Blank's family office alleges the attendants worked up to 90 hours a week, and another was in a relationship with Blank.
Other than English and Spanish, what would be a very useful language to learn?
If I could only learn one additional language, and I wanted to travel the world, what language would serve me best other than English or Spanish?
Probably the healthiest take on the election I have seen today.

Guitars that are WAY overpriced now

Tap for spoiler
Used electric guitars are way overpriced. IMHO current guitars, regardless of country of origin (and often price), are of better quality than almost everything built from the 70's through the end of the 90's.
A jury found Taylor guilty of deadly conduct Saturday in the 2019 killing of Mauris DeSilva, a 46-year-old neuroscientist.
A Travis County jury found Austin police officer Christopher Taylor guilty of deadly conduct Saturday. He faces up to 10 years in prison.
“We hope this outcome continues to help the DeSilva family with their healing process,” Travis County District Attorney José Garza said in a statement. “Our office is grateful to our dedicated staff who worked tirelessly to hold the defendant accountable and seek justice for the victim and their family. We further hope this verdict allows the community to heal and that we can move forward together."
Taylor was indicted for the killing of Mauris DeSilva, a 46-year-old neuroscientist, in July 2019.
Taylor and another officer, Karl Krycia, responded to 911 calls about DeSilva having a mental health crisis and holding a knife to his own neck at a downtown condominium.
The officers fatally shot DeSilva after he refused to drop the knife, KUT previously reported.
Taylor was originally indicted for the murder of DeSilva, but the charge was lessened to deadly conduct just a week before testimony began.
"The Austin Police Department respects the criminal justice process and understands this is a difficult time for all who have been impacted," APD said in a statement.
A judge will decide Taylor's sentencing date on Oct. 15.
Taylor was also indicted for the killing of Michael Ramos, an unarmed Black and Hispanic man, in April 2020.
Taylor was tried for murder in that case in 2023, but it ended in a hung jury. A grand jury declined to re-indict him for murder in that case, but he could be retried on lesser charges.
Weirdo gives $4000 to charity so he can smash cheap guitar signed by Taylor Swift
UPDATE: Apparently the guitar was not signed (or certified) by Taylor Swift afterall. 🤣
Gretsch Boygenius signature Broadkaster Jr.
I ordered this on a whim but I am probably going to sell it. It is a wonderful guitar but I prefer a beefier neck. This guitar is absolutely ideal for someone with small hands.
Currently setup for C Standard tuning. More pictures in the comments.
EDIT: Sold
My board of tone.
This is my travel board of tone. I mainly stick to plugins for effects.
The Nano Cortex is there just so I can capture and share tones I have nailed down, to give me a few effects when need a little something, to give me headphones out, and to act as a digital interface. I still haven't decided if it is a keeper.
The Notaklön is there for tone and volume boost more so than distortion.

The Woodrow is just a cool vibe sometimes.
