GM banned from selling your driving data for five years
  • A car dealer is not going to pass up a sale because the customer won't agree to the manufacturer collecting and selling the customers data.

Sure with software the company can just prevent you from using their product. But a physical item such as a vehicle? Please.

Besides GM was order to allow people to opt-out. They can't force data collection on you like Google can.

  • I am starting to dislike and distance myself from "christians" more and more (LA Fire..)
  • I don't think that's a good comparison. If a person doesn't follow a diet plan, then they are not on a diet. The diet plans effectiveness isn't brought into question in that case.

If a "Christian" goes to church, is told they are saved and are absolved of all their sins. And then spreads their toxicity and hatred around the world. That absolutely allows the rest of us to judge their belief system.

  • That goes without saying. And I'm at the point where if people don't care enough to check that kind of stuff, then I don't care enough to worry about them.

My 2025 moto is "you have no excuse to be ignorant anymore."

  • Legally, only if you let them. Illegally, what's the point of the conversation on the first place?

The settlement also requires GM to obtain consent from customers before collecting their driving behavior data, and allow them to request and delete their data if they choose.

  • How long has your PC been on for?
  • I'm convinced the reason all my drives used to fail is because I would leave the PC on, and only reboot for updates. Otherwise I would just put them to sleep. Three years later, I turn off the PC every night and haven't had a failed drive since.

  • Is McDonald's really that bad in USA?
  • Whenever I don't bring my lunch to work my only options are gas station food or McDonald's. Every time I go to McDonalds I get a cold meat patty on a hard bun, with the cheese somewhere on the side. The limp undercooked fries and bland nuggets that have the consistency of playdough.

I go to the gas station without hesitation.

  • This tiny Corsair touchscreen could change the way you view info on your PC
  • There was a Kickstarter a few years ago for the sec dec. Supporters likely got early iterations by now. The full release of the sec-dec isn't out yet.

Sec-dec seems to be a similar device to Corsair's xenon edge. But I'm not sure how similar.
