This just in: Tesla's new moniker "Arbeit Macht Frei" tracks poorly with most human beings.
Well if they'd stop putting signage with "Arbeit Macht Frei" over the entrance to their factories maybe they'd do better.
Here you go: https://www.reddit.com/r/OhioGardening/ Looks like they cleaned up a lot of the AI spam that was happening a few months ago, but they still let this one crazy guy post his fisheye lens youtube videos with updates about his garden. I'm all for it, but it was honestly annoying AF and most of his videos got downvoted. No one needs self promotion in a gardening sub.
Yeah the destruction of the niche communities plus the Big Brother style moderation is what drove me away.
To put it in context, I was an active member of a gardening sub specific to my growing zone, and THAT got AI astroturfed to hell and back. Mods did nothing about it. So I say good riddance to the cesspool that reddit has devolved into.
I hate the mango man but he won both the popular vote and electoral vote. How is that the fault of the system? The Dems put up a losing candidate that polled abysmally when she was running in the original primaries against Biden. To many in the center, the Dems had also swung too far left for their own flavor of progressive ideology. Put those two things together and they didn't have a snowballs chance in hell of winning the election.
Edit: Thanks for the downvotes? I'm just stating facts. Kamala was NOT a likeable candidate for many on the left and center, so they simply didn't vote. This led to cheeto in charge winning both the PV and EC. The rest of the world isn't nearly as progressive as most folks on Lemmy.
You joke but the sad thing is that this is how OF content creators drum up the most business. They prey on giving lonely/intimacy challenged people some sort of subconscious feeling of hope and connection to someone else inside a screen. Why else would you pay for prawn? It's literally free all over the internet.
No no no, tariffs totally help own the Libs. Wake up sheeple
The other 60% are old people re-sharing it.
Ghost town and nothing but scams and business spam at this point. It's a shame that FB marketplace killed it, because it was relatively simple and useful for what it did
Exactly. Thankfully I'm sure that Zelensky is smart enough to see this for what it is.
Zelensky also doesn't have to listen to a damn thing that the west advises. Especially the cheeto man.
Sucks to suck. Enjoy hell
The thing is that the more people use Lemmy the more content there will be
The online version of Stockholm syndrome?
Yes, super cereal only
SGU is literally LOST in the Stargate world
So I'm watching LOST for the first time and the blatant rip off the flashback story telling technique in SGU is uncanny. I used to think SGU was just a cheap Battlestar Galactica clone, but as I make my way through the 1st season of LOST it couldn't be clearer that SGU just reskinned LOST and did it 10x worse. LOST also started in 2004 whereas SGU premiered in 2009 while LOST was still running and was one of the highest rated shows on TV, so the writers of SGU can't say that they'd somehow missed it.
Getting back on topic, while the flashbacks work really well for LOST's story telling style and do serve to move the plot, in SGU it does the exact opposite. It takes the viewer out of the current story in a jarring way and doe nothing to advance the plot, at some points seemingly pulling it backwards or being tangential.
Now watching LOST, it only makes me hate SGU more lol.
You're telling me a country that could give a flying fuck about international patent law copied and replicated something? Say it ain't so.
Reminds me a lot of after 9/11 when they tried to change French Fries to Freedom fries. That stuck about as well as water on teflon.
China copying western tech is nothing new. That's literally how the elbowed their way up to the top as a world power. They copied everyones homework where they could and said, whatcha going to do about it?
They've also massively blown their wad of soviet weaponry. Modern Russia cannot replace it in any sort of relevant timeframe. Heck, idk if their economy could even sustain trying to rebuild it without causing hyperinflation
I don't think this has anything to do with the bacterial spread in Ukraine. Almost every major war sees disease outbreak accompany it due to unsanitary living conditions and destruction of critical health care supply chains.
