Finally a nice Twitter alternative..
  • Very likely! I wouldn't have thought so until you mentioned it

  • Finally a nice Twitter alternative..
    1. Mark hasn't learned his lesson because look at the data they are trying to collect. He's trying to collect so much data that it has become a meme. Do you realize how much information can be captured by using that new Twitter replacement? It seems like you just plugged your ears, screamed "Lalalalala", then buried your head in the ground
    2. "He learned his lesson" was also used by a senator to justify trump and he then led a coup against the US government. The rich don't learn lessons, they get slaps on the wrist. Nothing has changed from 2016 when this all went down.
    3. The government will NOT do anything because they are lobbied by ISP providers. There's no reason for them to make any changes because they are making bank as is. We peasants don't pose any risk and we certainly aren't making the elected officials millionaires so why should they listen to us?

I wrote my senior paper at university on data collection and facebooks role in all that. You are so off base with your comment, it's sad. That "paranoid nerd" you just shit on is entirely right and you sound like a reductionist oaf

  • Finally a nice Twitter alternative..
  • Don't forget that the groups they targeted were as small as 10 people. Facebook is the reason our world is a shit as it is now. Fuck meta. Fuck Facebook. Fuck all of them. I despise them with deeper hatred than 99.99% of the things I have ever known

  • I've been chasing the dragon's tail trying to get another sleep finisher like this
  • I've been working like crazy to figure out the i-frames of Isabelle's ultimate's launch because I do team all the time but want to combo the end of her ultimate with a sleep. So far...no success :( but I'll get there!

[BEFORE/AFTER] Minted to commemorate the founding of Constantinople.
  • This is awesome! Thanks for sharing. What types of coins do you typically find in a bag? How did you get started in this?

  • I only saw this today
  • While not the best clip of all time, what a brutal way to do it. Props to the jigglypuff!

  • Which lemmy community do you wish had more attention?
  • Thank you for the information, my guy!

  • How do we feel about Meta joining the Fediverse?
  • They handed data to bad actors who then targeted groups of citizens down to groups of 10 people on social media with hypertargeted "dark ads". These ads were only shown once and couldn't be found again.

This targeting was focused at all groups, all races/ages/demographics/political leaning but decently increased towards the green party candidate for a good second towards the end of the election. It was mainly positive towards Trump but focused heavily on all candidates to sow division.

In spending, if I remember correctly, Clinton spent like 8mil on social media campaigns. Trump spent something like 180mil.

Facebook facilitated and was complicit in all of this. They collected the data of how long we looked at things, where our cursors were, who we communicated with, etc. They benefited from all of this through the ads.

  • Which lemmy community do you wish had more attention?
  • I wish the Super Smash Bros Lemmy was more active. I wanted to message the owner to offer to mod because Sunspider helps with Lemmy.world and has their hands full probably but can't figure out how to do that on Jerboa.

SSB is one of the first video games I ever played and I've been active for over 20 years in this series. The Nintendo Switch does not make it easy to pull my files so it's a little harder to save and post clips unlike BotW or other games

  • Reddit Goes Nuclear, Removes Moderators of Subreddits That Continued To Protest
  • What do you mean? We have always been at war with Apollo our moderators

  • How do we feel about Meta joining the Fediverse?
  • I did my senior college paper on the fuckery that Facebook and Meta has caused and how harmful their data collection has been to American society. I will stop using any services that are bought up by Fuckerberg.

I do not want them in the fediverse and will not tolerate them for a second. The moment they form an instance is the moment I block their instance.

    Fuck. Meta.

  • The first and only existing photo of Chernobyl on the morning of the nuclear accident. April 26, 1986
  • The terrifying thing was during the Chernobyl docuseries, seeing the firefighters standing in that mound, surrounded by immensely radioactive debris and you as the viewer being shown the photograph later and realizing just how irradiated those men were.

The hospital they were treated at still has a massive radioactive pile of firefighter clothes that were discarded. So much pain and suffering

  • Lemmy's total users continues to soar from 240k yesterday to 360k today! Basically quadrupling in the past 4 days
  • I saw that one of the largest Lemmy's hadn't had 3 names taken that are high value (to me at least) so I snatched up the three I use often or really wanted. I've always dreamed of being one of the like [email protected] and now I am!

  • Lemmy's total users continues to soar from 240k yesterday to 360k today! Basically quadrupling in the past 4 days
  • I was in your comments last night with the 240k and was floored. The fact it jumped overnight by ANOTHER 120k is mind-blowing.

    This. Is. Awesome.

  • Driver reacts calmly to a tight situation
  • That truck tried really hard not to flatten the car on the side of the road. You can see it in the first second or so but he was definitely on a path to kill those people accidentally

  • Hypothetically speaking, if Reddit back tracks on their API plan and meets all of the communities expeditions- would you go back to Reddit?
  • That being said, the gross chasing of profits is the problem. A company desiring compensation or a growth model isn't a bad thing.

It absolutely is bad when you are expecting insane amounts of money for way beyond what is a fair and justifiable price for everyone. They should be able to grow BUT what they are doing has gone around 29x farther than it should have

  • Lemmy's total users surged from 156k to 240k in a single day today! What caused the jump?

  • I've created a pastebin as well so feel free to read either. Thank you to the person who did the giant screenshot!
