Why does everyone make such a fuss about privacy?
  • I'm not a commodity, I'm not a product, don't trade my shit. Simple as that.

  • Is Google Pixel actually good for privacy?
  • A part of that is due to the fact that you now only have one company to worry about collecting data, rather than both the manufacturer(think Samsung) and then Google too.

They also play the best with options like Grapheneos or Calyxos

  • How do you deal with being broke?
  • If you don't have immediate obligations such as kids, older, or sick family members/friends.

The industry is full of crap but I went from food service to driving a semi. 4 week school paid for by the company(after signing a 1yr contract) do that one year knowing it's going to suck and then find something local you like or stay on the road and do online school/self study. Most all of the big US based companies have partnered with online colleges to heavily discount the cost.

I did it as an emergency to save for a year and get out but ended up liking it and now work in safety with no school, just experience.

  • What are your favorite news sources?
  • AP, BBC and NPR

  • Looking for nice budget keyboard
  • Have a redragon myself, not too shabby. I'd also look at nuphy

  • What's your favorite Linux distro?
  • Fedora workstation for now. Might give silverblue a go as I've found myself using more flatpaks recently, or vanilla OS when the rebase to Debian.

  • what does your android / iphone home screen look like
  • Wallpaper: wallpapersden iceberg minimalist Launcher: Nova Icons: Arcticons dark/light Widget: Today Weather

  • what is your favorite f-droid app?
  • Behind NewPipe it would be Gadgetbridge and Feeder

  • Bonus? ❌ - Truck shaped mints? ✅ I feel so appreciated...
  • They could have least done a hat and coffee mug too

  • Starting up steam will sometimes crash Gnome
  • You can set up a keyboard shortcut, which runs off the terminal commands, then you're always using it but not using it, also

  • How to raise children without hierarchy
  • My partner is a democratic socialist (not a socdem) and is very open and an ally. I'm actually a Mutualist getting into the nitty gritty but still. We both stay open and realize when revolution happens we probably wouldn't get either of our "perfect" ideals anyway so give and take as with everything else in the relationship, although very similar.

  • How to raise children without hierarchy
  • Trying to do this ourselves. It's certainly harder when they're younger, as you can't really have conversations of reasoning and have to make top down decisions for safety a lot. That being said once they're older, say 4-5 we will certainly be turning to conversation and reasoning with their reasons held in high regard. Let them lead their day as much as possible if you don't have strict schedules or obligations tying you up that day. You might also like to look into the montessori education style, to use at home, if a Montessori school isn't an option. Basic stuff, live as an example, share your reasons for your way of life and philosophy. You might like books such as "The modern school movement: anarchism and education in the United States" if you're from the states, and "the universal declaration of human rights: an adaptation for children"

  • Do you skip the intro?
  • And miss my chance to dance like a dummy while my child copies? No way!

  • Considering switching over to Linux. My main concerns are with Music Production (Native Instruments, Bitwig, Arturia etc.)
  • Went from FL Studio and a lot of windows only vsts to using Reaper in Fedora and some good FOSS plugins plus "Vital" and " decent sampler". Definitely changed up my workflow but feels better at the same time. I'll still open FL in "bottles"(compatibility program) to use some of the native cats in there but I don't even mess with yahbridge to make my paid windows vsts work. Just changed up the flow mostly.

Edit: vsts kept autocorrectung to cats, kept one in.

  • Good News!
  • Welcome to the industry! You ever get annoyed just try out a different sector until something feels right. Yard dogging for me after 8 years of moving around, I'm not going anywhere. Pet peeve, straps go under the rub rail lol

  • Beans! But energy

Isn't that what coffee beans are, though?
