Stop he's already dead
  • I mean its gpod enough,no? Tp be able to force apple to not use proprietary charging. And i assume data will also be a thing on their products, whether or not it uses the full speed capabilities of usb c dpesnt seem to matter.

  • Not loving our dystopic fiction era
  • Depends really. Protests make sense, riots cluld make sense, however these riots always seem to be on the streets of the average person, this cpuld be blamed on mob mentality, but it is interesting to me, who doesnt like to get conspiritorial, that these riots end up fucking up infastructure of the average person, and destroying smaller businesses, and not in the yards of the mega rich who help these systems stay in place, and who benefit from them. Then since it ends up hurting the average person, we all keep fighting amongst each other, and the people who benefit from corrupt systems dont have to worry about us fighting them.

  • r/NASCAR mod drama. Allegedly using their mod status to get media passes for free, violating Reddit TOS.
  • As reddit mod antics go, this seems really benign. Sure its against TOS, but if we start looking at website TOSs as moral authorities, then a lot of what people do wvery day is suddenly morally wrong. And NASCAR ( by my knowledge, again since im not into it i dont kmow kuch abkut them) is a for profit corporation, so its not particularly wrong to mislead them.

I would have a prpblem about people pretending to have life threatening diseases to get in for free, like how soke people might use their kid, pretendong their sick as a method lf getting access to races for free.

As for some internet janitor pretending to be media, i dont think anyine is gettong hurt.

  • Is this really a bad thing? Possibly Illegal and slightly unethival sure, im here from the frontpage and donr care much for Nascar, but this seems like a reasonable thing to do, doesnt seem it hurts anyone except for maybe the Nascar corporation. As long as they dont actually see themselves as above other users, i dont see why anyone would care.

  • Want to run Jellyfin server. For only me and family. Want it to be remote accessible to listen to music or watch shit away from home.
  • Okay, so can people just find that shit on google? And also what are the odds of certain companies and agencies being perturbed by me essentially broadcasting copyrighted content? Even if i own it. I shpuldnt expect FBI or worse, Viacom hitmen right? Especially of the content is behond a log in?

When I see this sort of thing, and other people are trying to do it, a reverse proxy or vpn is always mentioned. Heres my question:

How Dangerous is it to just open the port for it on my router and access it like that?

Lets say i want to access jellyfin from Kodi on my xbox or something outside my network, the vpn solution wouldnt work for this i would think.

My issue with reverse proxies, and why im asking, is it seems less secure? I mean Im well aware that an IP is easy to get, i guess. But how likely is someone to look for something on my network specifically? With reverse proxies it seems like i would be broadcasting my server to the internet in a way its easier to happen across, than someone being interested in a random residential IP.

I run a minecraft server for friends on my main computer anyway, and i know tons of people do that, theoretically thats the same level of danger as opening my network for jellyfin specifically.

VPN isnt an option because of this xbox stuff i mentioned and people in my family who have 0 chance of understanding it regardless.

So what is the better option, going through this reverse proxy ( which im actually also unsure would work with kodi) or rawdog the server on my network. I guess leaving the server exposed? or every device even.

Any recommendations for low-end, Linux-friendly games to play?
  • I recently played through every Deus Ex game on linux, first 2 are oibviously low end, and maybe Human Revolution , it came out in 2011. the original and Human revolution are pretty good if you like rpgs, Invisible war the second game is alright but pretty light on some elements that make those two great, cause it was made i think with thje original xbox in mind instead of pc.

  • An anti-porn app put him in jail and his family under surveillance
  • I can maybe understand monitoring the accused, especially when accused of possessing cp, with this.

The article doesnt go a whole lot into the case, but it sounds like it was flimsy, but then again i like to think cases like that are hopefully well researched to make sure the person is guilty, but often in the legal system, with any accusation, the goal is not to find truth but to find jail time on sometrhing the prosecution has made its mind up about, because a loss i guess could be seen as embarrassing.

But if this was going to be deployed the limit should be the accused phone, not family members, and from what i understood they have to pay for it?

Several legal experts expressed concern about the monitoring conditions imposed by the judge in Hannah’s husband’s case. But Phyllis Emerick, the chief deputy public defender in Monroe County, argues that because Hannah’s husband and his family consented to the surveillance, they gave up their rights to privacy. “He agreed that he would not access electronic devices in his household in exchange for release,” she says. “It was the family’s choice to continue living with him.”

what the fuck kind of logic is this, lets say the guy is a piece of shit, if he is, still its not easy to just move, especially with the stress of leaving someone youve known for years, or forever. Not to mention the financial burden.

This is some CCP shit. If we allow this to permeate across the US, we will have a far worse problem than the NSA constantly monitoring us which most people didnt care about, device level spyware is next level, and maybe people wont care then either.

This feels like that shit in the game watch dogs, while i imagine not as fantastical as the game, what if control of these apps is gotten not just b the governemnt, already doing shady shit, but hackers as well. the precedent set here can be very alarming.
