What a weak ass loser.
  • If it wasn't historically relevant, why would they use the word on their page? Coed is relevant because women used to segregated or not be eligible for higher education at all. He's taking a shot at women, not people of colour. He yearns for the times women "knew their place" (ugh, I feel gross just typing that) and didn't seek education or a career.

In any case, that clip sounds to me like "coloured" only a tiny bit more than it sounds like "college", which is to say, not much.

  • What a weak ass loser.
  • I don't know how anyone could have possibly heard that as college. To me he quite obviously says "co-ed" which also happens to make more sense if you read their about page:

The Trailblazers of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated Zeta Phi Beta Sorority would be remiss not to pay homage to the first women who believed in the need for a new and different type of Greek-lettered organization and acted upon that need. To these women, Zeta was more than an organization – it was a movement. This belief system reflected, at its core, the desire to provide true Service, embrace Scholarship, set a standard for Sisterly Love, and define the noble concept of Finer Womanhood. This belief has sustained and encouraged Zetas worldwide to hold fast to the ideals initiated and developed by its earliest members.

The Founders of Zeta were strong, principled coeds who possessed a great deal of modesty, strength of character, and pride in academic achievement. They are a worthy foundation upon which to base our illustrious Sorority.

  • How does corpo PR still mess this sort of thing up so badly? Just issue a statement:

    1. Acknowledge and take responsibility for your part of the incident. DO NOT try and shirk any responsibility.

    2. Outline what you will do to prevent the problem for happening again.

    3. Commit to providing progress updates on the resolution.

On issues of this magnitude, there's simply no way to compensate everyone whose time and effort you've wasted. Don't insult people with a meagre offering. Instead, commit those resources to a resolution, and simply ask for forgiveness.

  • I think boomers are also a bit more unconditionally supportive of the state of Israel for some reason as well. Perhaps (and this is my speculation) they were more propagandized than younger people whom have better access to global communication and cultural exchange, and were therefore more Arabophobic on average.

Also, Israel is the US's military foothold in the middle east, so it's there as power projection to the oil-rich countries in the vicinity.

  • Kamala Harris Overtakes Trump in First Major Poll Since Biden Exit From Race
  • I don't think that's how that works.

If people predominantly bet for one side, the odds have to lower so the house still wins in either case. Basically, there has to be enough taken in on all other options to cover the payout of any winning option.

If there's no selection bias in betting skill level of the players, then the betting odds should roughly reflect the actual probability. But if one side's bet has no basis in reality, then the odds can get very skewed.

And in those cases, it's not the oddsmakers that are wrong, it's the betters. The house always wins.

  • Kamala Harris Overtakes Trump in First Major Poll Since Biden Exit From Race
  • I wonder if there's any selection bias there. Perhaps people who believe trump will win are much more likely to be the type of people who would bet on an election?

I kinda have a feeling the house is going to make a killing on this bet.

  • Path of Exile: Introducing the Currency Exchange Market
  • I mostly agree. I kinda felt decisions mattered in a game like Disco Elysium, but you're still essentially on the same overall track; the only way, things could really matter is if the story lines completely diverge, and that almost never financially makes sense, since you'd essentially be making multiple games and selling it as one.

I don't think that's the distinction that GGG is trying to get at though. What they're going for is making micro-decisions matter. You have to turn your brain on and use it for combat most of the time to stay alive, so you can't just zone out and go on autopilot then pay attention for when you know you're going to need it. They want to focus on a much more active play style where there are more telegraphed attacks and dodging all the time.

I enjoy those mechanics too, but I don't want them all the time. I want a blend of hard and easy, if that makes sense. I want to be able to blast through some content and make my goal clearing it as efficiently as possible, not worrying about dying every second.

And maybe I'm concerned about nothing, and it won't be that way, but I'd rather try it and be happily surprised than go in with high expectations and be disappointed.

    Tofu Katsu w/ Golden Curry

I was going to make pizza on Friday, but I messed up when stretching my dough, and it seized up, so I had to rest it and re-rise, and so change of plans!

I had left over curry and just made the tofu cutlets by shallow frying in a small pan to minimize oil usage.

As always, any questions or feedback welcome, and happy to provide recipes if anyone wants them! \_\

    Za #4, Pepperoni Pizza

I happened across some store bought vegan pepperoni, and decided I'd do one of the most simple pizzas in existance: the NY style pepperoni pizza. It totally wasn't because I was lazy and it takes like almost zero effort.

My dough caught on the peel as I was shimmying it on to the griddle, so I kinda got this weird teardrop-shaped pizza. Oh well. (:

There's really just something very comforting about a basic-ass slice like this. It's not fancy or pretentious, just delicious.

    Pizza Friday #3 - Sweet & Savoury

So I've decided to make pizza every Friday this summer. This is \#3, but I declined to post the first two because they contained a slightly controversial brand plant based meat substitute.

This one has vegan blue cheese, caramelized onions, button mushrooms, sun dried tomatoes, balsamic reduction and pear slices. I meant to add a bit of arugula, but I forgot. A little fresh basil probably would have been good too.

Oh yeah, I was going to have it last night (y'know, on Friday like I said) but some stuff came up so I had to delay a night.

Feel free to ask for any recipes or whatever! I generally follow Adam Ragusa's NY style pizza recipe, but he's not vegan so if you don't want to give him additional traffic, I can probably answer any questions you might have.

If you have any suggestions for my next pizza, I'd love to hear it! \\

Indian dins! Daal, Aloo Gobi, and Tofu Makahni on Kuska (Biryani) Rice

I've been learning to cook all sorts of Indian recipes lately. The samosa are store bought, cuz who has time for that. Everything else is made from scratch. I'll probably get around to makeing my own samosas too, some day.

Will post recipes if anyone is interested. ^^

    NY-ish style pizza

A riff on the classic NY style pizza. Obviously with all the extra toppings, and a cheddar style "cheese", it's not in any way accurate, but it's what I happened to have on hand.

    Dough & Sauce:

    • Adam Ragusea's NY Style Pizza v2 [Content Warning: recipe is not fully vegan. It contains cow milk.]

    "Cheese":

    • Smoked cheddar style vegan grating block

    Toppings:

    • Red onion, mushroom, vegan sausage, fresh basil
