USA potentially switching to absolute executive power
  • Agree. I think just like a lot of open ended things happened before, it can be one off, or can be a beginning for a new era. There’s no reason to conclude, but all reason to worry (if you don’t like monarch)

  • US is positioned for "another 9/11" former CSIS official warns
  • The attackers won’t consider consequence, their measure is the impact and chance of success (as they mostly only have one shot in a long time)

For those are hesitant which I doubt there are, trump will keep provoking until he got one.

  • What the US can learn from South Koreans who stopped an authoritarian power-grab.
  • Korean president has very low approve rating and is quite unsophisticated in political operation. The martial law drama was widely considered stupid move by the president.

Trump II on the other hand is much more experienced and thoughtful in executing his playbook. America has a lower chance coming back from authoritarian, and the sacrifice needed to pull this off will be vast.

  • Department of Homeland Security preparing to fire hundreds of senior leaders this week
  • Trump is actually delivering what his voters expected, run the country like CEO, firing VPs and managers who he doesn’t like and hire those who will do what to be told.

This speaks to fundamental a lack of imagination of American society, rich CEO is the only model for American dream.

Success of capitalism taking over every corner of the society is probably the main reason. also the short history is another reason, as once you have a few bloody cycles of dynasties and folk lore about bad kings and deeper variety of inspirational characters, the society will be more resilient.

  • Elon Musk says '60 Minutes' staffers ‘deserve a long prison sentence’ — in response to show’s interview with a GOP DOGE critic
  • Read thru the lines, you can see a lot of small dick energy there. Especially musk, what he’s saying about 60min makes me feel he is literally trying to be low resolution copy of Trump. A small sized teen boy is mimicking the senior big bully and scare rest of his class. It’s incredible how Americans make these psychologically undeveloped boys rich and in charge.

  • DOGE's death blow to education studies.
  • Annual cost of K12 from federal state and local is $17,700 per student currently. From pure cost perspective, America does not need public schools, just send kids to Mexico or even China cost much less, and business will get more obedient labor with better math.
