Can I put gold foil on my bluetooth headphones to improve the audio quality?
If I go with 1, it won't solve the problem. You think the sadistic fuck who set up the system won't just laugh and set it up again for someone else to play?
Pass it along. At some point the tram will break down.
The current events at Reddit are the output of a corporation with no understanding how how to run a community driven site, and way too much financial desperation to take several steps back and learn it.
Whether the wave recedes and we scramble to repair our sandcastles, the tide is rising.

Shovel Knight stuck with me more than I think the developers even expected. Maybe because I went through a rather distressing breakup at the time.
Shovel Knight ending
Shovel Knight's girlfriend isn't a cliche damsel. She's the capable Shield Knight and his partner. They used to go on adventures together as a team.
During the game, the platforming challenges that are hard, are hard because Shovel Knight is alone. With Shield Knight, platforming and fighting becomes easier and most of the levels would not have been so hard. The end fight is teamwork build on building up each others' strengths and fill in each others' weaknesses.
Yeah yeah, I know I probably read more into it than they put into it, but I did and it stuck with me.
My record must be Photopia. 25 years later, I still feel half a tear forming by thinking too much about it.
I considered that for mine, but given that replacing all my comments can be taken as hostile, I'd rather not associate them with Lemmy or Beehaw.
I just went with setting every one of my comments to [user data has been purged]
It prevents the most obvious cheating like savegame editing, save scum item duplication, and similar. If the game has PvP or leaderboards while still allowing your game character to be taken online when you feel like it, it makes technical sense.
If you don't want to participate in leaderboards and just play single player and maybe co-op or PvP with trusted friends or on a curated server (like people do in Minecraft, Space Engineers, Terraria, old school shooters...), it's just a degradation.
It did have an effect. Remember the context: Reddit is trying to look 📈 big and growing now, because they will start selling Reddit shares. If no visible protest, buyers would just see the reality that Spez is showing them like "ad revenue remains stable" and "app adoption is skyrocketing!"
Even if temporary, that amount of outage made the news, which means potential buyers get to see a bit of dirty underwear sticking out of Spez's drawer. Business Insider reports on "Reddit's falling IPO valuation" already.
It is costing them, which may cause change. Clearly too little too late for too many people, but hey at least the assholes lost money.

I wish I could adjust my body temperature at will.
While most nuclear countries have their nuclear war doctrine stating that nuclear weapons are only to be used if under complete and existential threat, the French have a concept of a "nuclear warning shot".
Okay, Person C. You can teleport, but only one bodypart at a time. My wish: I wish I could charge phones with my hand.
I did not try, but it's proooobably hitting a serverside rate limit. If you have the option to inspect the network responses, they may have some information.
PSA: Reddit Power Delete Suite
The "edit comment" feature, whether paired with deletion or used by itself, does not work due to hitting rate limits. The developer is aware, but don't have capacity to fix it atm.
Some forks fix it. I didn't have the patience to figure out which ones did, which ones worked, or how do use their modified versions, so I made my own fork including a working "release" of sorts. It it rate limited to wait 5 seconds between each edit:
Spurious "report created"
On Chrome/Android. Sometimes, usually after navigating around a bit, I get a green popup saying "report created". I have no idea what I am doing that causes this, and I don't know what exactly it is referring to.
While it doesn't affect my usage, I don't want to accidentally create bogus reports, if that's even what is happening.
Any hints on what I can do to debug or avoid this?
