It would be cool to have Lemmy pen pals. Asklemmy, what are your hobbies and what's your life like?
  • The two communities on reddit were so lovely too. Absolutely hoping they come over here. I can never decide on which books I enjoy most but having listened to mistborn again while introducing my wife to the stories I think it has to be them. The world building is so special.

Yeah haven't stopped since it came out haha, the engine building physics stuff is so interesting. There's also a tonne to explore and stuff. I've still not finished the main quest line. Honestly it makes me feel like a kid discovering gaming again.

Odegaard for sure. I've always supported them, although that was easy as I started enjoying football when they were the invincibles. I was a glory hunter but for sure stuck by them. There's a good community on lemmy already over at gunners (lemmy.world) I think!! Who's your favourite?

  • The licanius trilogy explores this really nicely. If you're a sci-fi or fantasy fan I really do highly recommend them.

Hopefully without spoiling too much, the future being predetermined doesn't necessarily prohibit free will. In the same way we can't travel backwards in time we can't travel forwards faster. Everything has happened, both in the past present and future, but it's still the decisions of the people that led to and lead to the outcomes that exist. The past is just as postdetermined as the future is predetermined, if that makes any sense.

It's weird but I liked it.

For everyone new to Lemmy, how are you finding the experience?
  • I guess it depends on how big instances get. The lemmy world instance currently hosts the casual uk community and its picking up traction across other geographic communities also.

I think migrating communities will likely find the communities in instances that are the "primary" versions, we just need those to reach critical mass.

I think the big risk is instances going dark or holding communities ransom in future. All of casual uks content being hosted in one instance it's crazy dangerous for the longevity of that community. (Unless I'm not understanding quite how it works)

  • Your favorite board games?
  • My city is an astoundingly good game. My wife and I are playing it basically every weekend at the moment. Super easy to learn, tactically rich, the art is lovely and you make your own city story to some extent. It's just wonderful.
