Subscribing to communities from beehaw, lemmy.ml, and a few others stuck on "subscription pending"

  • Beehaw usually works fine for me but lemmy.ml seems to be problematic.

    Does subscribing to a community require approval?

    I've tried subbing to some other communities however the status stays pending for quite a long time. Could this be because they are on other instances?
