Because case sensitivity makes sense in some limited applications but when trying to make something which works for a broad audience it's user unfriendly.
Parenting being different to parenting and pArenting might make sense from a pedantic programming perspective, but from a user perspective it's ridiculous. The fact that you get a 404 for parenting but can't create a magazine called parenting as Parenting exists shows it's a broken system

/m/parenting and /m/Parenting should equate to the same magazine
That's clearly just a statement put out to make the userbase look like they're unhinged and a blatant attempt to garner some sympathy.
Employees shouldn't be wearing reddit 'swag' outside because it's just incredibly tragic. Corporate branded clothing is for wearing when you're gardening, mucking out the chickens etc.
