Another valuable life lesson from Elmo and friends!
  • "Free" as it isn't the renters responsibility. If something breaks they call the landlord and say fix it.

Obviously the maintenance cost will be baked into the rent cost, or as an added fee as shown in your example.

  • They do create value. They provide maintenance free housing as well as short term housing (short term as in 1-3 years.) Not everyone wants to stay in the same location for 5+ years. If you move around alot It you want to rent is usually the better option.

Now sure you could argue they are over charging for that service but that doesn't mean they aren't providing value.

The only reason why we are having issues is because there is a housing shortage that is raising the price and large companies have taken advantage of this by buying up all the houses at the crazy price and renting them out at crazy rent prices eating up the market for actual people to want to buy a house.

  • I'd take them over a bear
  • Regardless of who you are locked in a room with no one should feel safe if they are locked in a room. Being captured isn't safe feeling at all. Although I would feel safer with those three by my side then alone.

  • Have you tried changing the default view from Columns to List? IMO it makes the UI much better. Then you can add in a more details about each PC on the main view. Make is very useful if you have a lot of computers you are managing.

You can also switch from the left bar interface to top bar interface. That looks better to me. Also dark mode.

  • Completely disagree. Meshcentral is amazing. I use it almost everyday. Sure it has some querks, and I am not a fan of the default layout but that is an easy change.

    It is certainly not discontinued.

Yes Ylian (the developer) was laid off from Intel and later started working at Microsoft. But the project is still alive and well. (He owns the domain so he was able to keep the website alive. Another user (Si458) Has taken up alot of the development (30 commits this month ) and Ylian has also continued development although much less now he has a day job. (1 Commit this month)

The only thing that got discontinued was the publicly hosted server of MC. That was costing to much and it required to much maintenance now this became a side project. So you will need to self host it now.

  • Power outage worries
  • If you drain the UPS past 50% it really kills the life of the batteries.

In the Enterprise you probably have generator backup. So the UPS only need to keep things running for 30 second to a minute. So that never happens.

Moment of silence for the cats in the US time change zone.

I have an automatic feeder for my kitties. It is based on time, my cats are not impressed by the extra hour they needed to wait.

    Dual Actuator Drives

This is really cool, I have never heard of dual actuator drives before.

    ZFS migrate data TrueNAS

    I just ordered 6 16TB drives to upgrade my 8 4TB drives.

My server doesn't have any more room for expansion.

My Question is what is the best way to replace the 8 4TB drive with the new 6 16TB drives?

I was thinking of setting up a secondary server put the 6 16TB drives in that and copy the data over. Then just remove the 8 4TB pool and swap the drives around then add the 6 6TB pool.

However I am guessing this method might screw up my shares and settings I have on the existing pool.

    Any ideas? Thanks

    Proxmox Cluster and Quorum

How do you handle Proxmox clusters when you only have 1 or 2 servers?

I technically have 3 servers but I keep one offline because I don't need it 24/7 most point wasting power on a server I don't need.

I believe I read somewhere that you can force Proxmox it to a lower number but it isn't recommended. Has anyone done this and if so have you run into any issues with this?

My main issue is I want my VM to start no matter what. For example I had a power outage. When the servers came back online instead of starting they waited for the quorum number to reach 3. (it will never reach 3 because the third server wasn't turn on.) so they just waited forever until I got home and ran
