It’s Surprisingly Easy to Live Without an Amazon Prime Subscription
  • I specifically remember canceling a few months ago but they decided to just charge me for another year anyways. It's a total mystery to me.

  • It’s Surprisingly Easy to Live Without an Amazon Prime Subscription
  • There was a time in the long ago times when it was a really good, customer focused service that didn't have all of the issues it has today. It then of course got worse every year like everything else but now many people use it out of habit or addiction.

  • Yeah, I think the main thing that makes intermittent fasting effective is exactly this. I don’t believe that there’s anything magical about eating in a time window in itself but not taking in those extra little snacks that all add up is big.

  • “So tired”: Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+ prices increase by up to 25 percent in October
  • Apparently the instance I’m on banned the piracy subreddit… so how does that work? Am I still allowed to talk about it or will they ban me too? New to Lemmy.

Fuck it. I don’t really care. $3/mo for Real-Debrid to watch high quality, ad free streams of anything I want on Stremio is a no brainer.

  • Reddit CEO hints that subreddit paywalls are on the way
  • Hah, same. Made an account awhile ago and this made me check to see how things are going in Lemmy land.

  • 2.9 billion hit in one of the largest data breaches ever — full names, addresses and SSNs exposed
  • Dang, that’s quite a few people. Maybe we can stop linking our identity to a simple number in the US sometime? That would be swell.

  • YouTube's plan backfires, people are installing better ad blockers
  • I pay for Premium now since it includes music streaming which is convenient to use. If they raise the price too much, I'll absolutely just go back to mp3s and deal with the ads on YouTube and just watch less content on there. $15 is about my cap before I do that.

  • How does everyone feel about Google Pixel phones?
  • Just got the Pixel 6a when it was super cheap for Prime Day because my Note 9 was acting up even after a factory reset and wouldn't hold a charge for the day. I love it. It does everything I need a phone to do and is zippy fast. I don't see myself every spending a lot of money on a phone again unless it has some revolutionary new feature... but I think those days are over. If this line stays affordable and high quality, I'll probably go for another with my next phone too

  • Final Fantasy 16 sales did not meet high expectations, says Square Enix president
  • Try releasing it on Xbox and PC as well instead of going single console exclusive?

  • What is an item below 100 bucks that everyone should own?
  • Aside from all kinds of recipes I make pretty regularly (buffalo cauliflower, green bean fries, homemade pizza rolls and jalapeno poppers, etc.) I also regularly use it to heat frozen food or leftover pizza, to thaw bread, to roast vegetables... Tonight I used it to cook the protein I was making for an asian dish while I stir fried the veggies and made the sauce.

Huge variety of options. Maybe watch some YouTube videos of quick recipes and get inspired!

  • Winning is relative
  • I try explaining this to fellow Americans that you end up paying much less in the end and never have the stress of how you're going to afford this stuff (or possibly even lose everything to a sudden health problem) but it falls on deaf ears if they've already been brainwashed. They refuse to hear that other countries have things figured out to make the lives of their citizens much more enjoyable.

  • After migrating from Reddit, it’s jarring that comment sections aren’t cluttered with hashtag-style comments that are just links to subreddits like /HoLuP/
  • Only been here a day but the main thing I’ve noticed so far is that the user base reminds me of the old days of Digg and Reddit. Nobody downvoting comments for no good reason, nobody being needlessly hostile or starting shit. I’ll enjoy it while it lasts.

  • What is an item below 100 bucks that everyone should own?
  • Does it do a good job on ear hair? I’ve tried multiple groomers that get the nose hair well enough but every one of them has been trash at getting the ear hair so I’ve resorted to plucking it.

  • What is an item below 100 bucks that everyone should own?
  • This is one of my biggest fears in life. Bugs creep me the hell out, I already have sleeping troubles, and I know I’d be wrecked by little bastards biting me in bed.

I can’t believe nobody has come up with a simple solution to this yet.

  • What is an item below 100 bucks that everyone should own?
  • I find that I use it pretty much every day for one thing or another, so mine has earned permanent counter residence. I’ll probably buy a much fancier one when this one kicks the bucket.

  • What is an item below 100 bucks that everyone should own?
  • One of my life purposes is converting people to The Way of Bidet. I have bought over a dozen as gifts for people and pretty much anybody who is actually willing to install it and try it loves it and hopefully converts others in turn. Clearly superior to wiping in terms of hygiene, saving money on TP, and not irritating the bum.

  • So happy I read this thread. Had it setup in no time and will be cancelling all of my streaming services. $30/year for this is pretty incredible.

  • Mortal Kombat 1 will have 24 fighters at launch
  • Always been a fan of subtitles once a game series has too many entries. I'm especially not fond of publishers calling games the same name as one previously released unless it's a substantial reboot decades later.

  • Ironically, since I started pirating, I've spent MORE money on movies.
  • Far too much of a snob to watch those icky YIFY movies with all of their artifacts.

  • Sync for Lemmy is now available for everyone
  • Yeah, gotta kind of see if Lemmy catches on before investing that kind of money. I'd be much more likely to toss them $20 or something more reasonable

It does feel nice feeling home again after years of using Sync though. That official Reddit app is so clumsy.
