  • Same. I posted something a little earlier today. This is using the Jerboa app

  • Looking for better Sports streams
  • When it comes to live sports, I gave up on trying to find online streams a while ago. IPTV is really the best way to go for that.

  • There's actually quite a few. Can't think of them all, but the idea of things like making your own shampoo concoction is overkill to me. You can get a 39oz bottle of shampoo for like $7.50 US. Bought a bottle in January of this year and still have more than half the bottle left.

Just seems like the effort and cost savings aren't worth it to me for something like this. Plus it's questionable if it even works as good.

Basically though, I think people confuse cheap with frugal. Frugal is being about getting the bang for the buck, not depriving ones self for the sake of saving a few dollars. Mobile phones are a good example. Is there really a need to get a $1000 flagship phone when I can get a $200 lesser name phone that can do all the same things as the top tier one can? Sure, the photos might not be as high quality, but they're way good enough for every day use.

  • Stephenson blasts his 2nd goal of Game 4. 2 - 0 Vegas
  • 3-1 now. Almost end of 2nd. If Florida loses this one, I can't see them coming back. Vegas will win it at home.

  • Vegas GP Costs are Crazy
  • Yeah I was excited with the Vegas news since I'm only 4hrs away, but then when I saw the prices I couldn't believe it. I'm close enough to drive there but not close enough for a turn around. When you factor in hotel/event costs and traffic, I could only imagine the nightmare it would be to try and make a weekend out of it.

  • 'Conspiracy theories have become normalised in Britain', says BBC disinformation correspondent
  • COVID, UFO/UAP's...the list goes on and on. Conspiracy theories are the actually turning out to be the most reliable news sources. The MSM has proved over and over that they are just shills for whatever government they serve and we can't believe anything they put out as news.

  • Anyone else watching 24 hours of le mans? (live stream in link)
  • Can someone explain why they didn't allow intermediates? Seems dumb to have to choose between slicks and full wets.

  • What's the current state of printers on Linux? Are there any decent options?
  • This has been my experience as well. I use Linux Mint Cinnamon and two Canon PIXMA printers. One large format and one printer/scanner. Canon does not have any Linux drivers on their website, but they were recognized and supported when they were plugged in. Pretty much plug and play

One thing I've noticed though is that the CUPS drivers seem to be the bare minimum. You can't do things like see ink levels and the color/brightness levels are off by quite a bit. A lot of times It takes a lot of tweaking to get colors accurate that for a lot of my photos, I just fire up the windows machine and print them from there

  • Favourite comedy films?
  • Haha. Tough call between that and Young Frankenstein. Actually there's so many good comedies out there, it's tough to just pick one or two

  • Favourite comedy films?
  • Blazing Saddles and Airplane

  • How do folks feel about motorsports around here? The centennial 24 Hours of Le Mans starts in a little under 12 hours and I'm trying to find my people.
  • I'm a fan of motorsports. Le Mans is one of those classic races that I've been watching for a long time. It's a new era for the top class with all of the manufacturers coming back. It lost a lot of it's excitement in recent years. In fact I think there was only Toyota in LMP1 in 2020

  • Android’s distribution numbers remain as depressing as ever
  • Yeah. Maybe improvements to cameras is still a thing, but even those are so much better now than they used to be. But even that is really dependent on what phone you get. A flagship will always have a better camera than a budget phone.

Other than that I see no reason to spend top dollar on a mobile device whose capabilities peaked 5 or more years ago. I just buy used unlocked mid range phones every three years or so. Can't say I'm missing anything.
