Yeah, my captain he told me "don't worry about your size"
  • Huh…

Looks like that image specifically is from a fan-made version of Phase II, but yeah you’re spot-on.

    https://trekmovie.com/2008/08/28/fanmade-new-phase-ii-enterprsie-ogam-announce-dvd/

I knew about Phase II, and that elements of it were merged into TMP and TNG, but I only remembered the triangular Enterprise concept that was later the basis of Discovery.

This all sent me down a rabbit hole where I learned things like Xon (originally a replacement for Spock) became Saavik, and Decker and Ilia were the basis for Riker and Troi.

    Thanks!

  • NCD, what's this for? (Wrong answers only)
  • That’s the built in leaf blower to make sure that the runway is clear for autumn landings. Most airports have their own de-leafing crews, but not all of them.

They were mandated to be installed after a string of landing crashes in the 90s got people making “fall” jokes too often, which upset the FAA.

  • [Steam] Classic Marathon
  • The writing for this series was great. Overall the game was really a cut above most other things out there at the time. As a Mac gamer (a rare breed for sure) it felt special to have something so good just for us. They did port Marathon 2 for windows, but I don’t think it was a huge commercial success. I’m glad that it was open sourced though so that it could be shared with everyone.

Marathon had a function to record and replay gameplays, and there was a community of people sharing their in game accomplishments and challenges. Vidmasters was probably my first taste of something like a speedrunning community. But it was enough to beat the level, we needed to vid it with style.

I imagine that most fans already know this, but just in case, I recommend checking out Marathon Rubicon, which is an excellent unofficial sequel to Marathon Infinity.
