  • But right wing also oppose government interventions to lower those prices. And no, the market will not fix itself. Some things are not bound to laws of supply and demand. When your kid is on the operation table, you’re not going to tell him « hey sorry it’s too expensive to keep you around, we’re putting you down ».

  • Shouldn't we be switching buses with light railway?
  • IMO electric busses needs to have a trolley bus infrastructure on some route so the bus is recharged during the day. Won’t cover 100% of the energy needs, but will spread out the charging time.

  • Shouldn't we be switching buses with light railway?
  • IMO it should be a progressive transformation. First light bus coverage, then more frequent busses and longer busses, then once the line is packed elevated light rails with remote control. The goal should always be to carry more people with less effort. Busses can be deployed quickly. Rails are a better long term solution.

  • Capitalism CookBook: Take an invention which the inventor wanted to be accessible to everyone and make it 57 times more expensive than it costed to make it 🧐🎩
  • Unless they sell the new insulin at cost, then no, they don’t get to charge more for the existing product.

They always say that they charge more to pay for the risk from R&D, but having people pay more an existing product to finance future R&D is the complete opposite of that.

This is why some stuff should never be handled by private corporations.

  • You’re a sysadmin, you’ll figure it out one day. But here’s a clue : why would you need to protect a windows folder from being written into by windows-based malwares from a linux OS ?

  • Depression itself is only a symptom in this case
  • Getting a first diagnosis took me about 10 minutes. I’m in Canada, and we have a doctor available one day a week at the office. After a 10min discussion he gave me a prescription and with some trial and error we found the right dose of concerta to use.

  • Apple Explains Why It Won’t Make iPhones With Replaceable Batteries
  • Force them to cover all water damage under warranty. And let them void the water damage warranty if you replace the battery. This will remove their bad excuse if « keeping the phone waterproof » as it will acknowledge that opening it breaks the seal.

  • Right wing trash site headline: "The New Charges Against Trump 'May' Carry the Death Penalty"
  • Life sentence in prison.

The idea that there’s an acceptable number of innocent people being killed by the state on the death row so we’re allowed to sometime get vengeance on someone instead of having them go trough their life in a prison cell is simply horrible.

  • Advertising revenue in Twitter crashes by 50%
  • Twitter could have 200% more users, if no one want to show them ads, then ad spots will be dirt cheap. Printing 5 millions of 1cent ads vs 1 million of 10cents ads is not the same. Both on income and expenses...

  • What happens if a US site just ignores the GDPR?
  • If the comment keeps your IP address, and/or your email, or a nickname, it can be considered personal data.

The “simple” rule is : does that info, once used with other data, can allow someone to figure out who you are ? If so, then it’s personal. From there, always validate with a lawyer who is actually properly trained on the GDPR to review your decision.
