Is there a CC, Debit, or other card I can use that's a little nicer to small businesses?
  • If you mean for processing, I’m not sure what would be difficult about one credit card processor over another. The 4 major networks do charge different fees to merchants, so if that’s your primary concern, Visa and MasterCard will typically be the cheapest, but that’s more-so up to your clients and what cards they use.

If you mean for purchasing, I would think the only additional expense to you would be any applicable annual fees (which many business cards do have). There are plenty of business-oriented cards that don’t have annual fees tho, like the Amex Blue Business Cash card. If you value customer service over everything, I’ve personally found Chase to have some of the best customer service from a bank/credit card provider, but many major banks will be competitive in that regard.

If you mean more on the front-end / client-facing side, there are numerous services such as Square and Shopify that can simplify and streamline things, but that of course comes at an additional cost.

Hopefully that helps, otherwise if you can provide some more specific info on what you’re looking for, I or others might be able to provide better help/advice.

  • Can Siri play my Apple Music library starting with the newest songs?
  • You should have a playlist already in your library called “Recently Added” and can have Siri or a shortcut play said playlist. I’m not sure how far back that playlist goes compared to what you’re wanting, so if you want to customize it more, you could setup a smart playlist to add all new songs to.

  • What is defederation?
  • Federated = Email. Different email providers (Gmail, Microsoft, iCloud, etc.) can all communicate with each other freely and using the same protocol.

    Defederated = No longer federated.

Not federated = Your company’s internal Teams/Slack/whatever messaging system. Even tho they theoretically could communicate without other messengers and/or people outside of the company, they typically don’t do they’re just their own little bubble.

Lemmy is federated, Facebook is not.

  • AR-15 11.5" with a can. Yes that's a UTG rear sight. No it's not very good, but it's aStHeTiC af.
  • Yeah there’s definitely something to be said for the simplicity of a dot. I’m a huge fan of EOTechs and run them on multiple of my rifles, but I’ve switched to a dot on my PCC and found it to be much better for close target transitions and getting on target faster compared to the SLx ACSS I had on it before.

  • Guns for beginners?
  • Had I seen this 9 months ago, my answer probably would’ve been a PCC or AR pistol depending on your state, but now it seems that a handgun would be the best option.

If you haven’t gotten something already, you quite literally can’t go wrong with pretty much any 9mm carry or full size handgun from a reputable manufacturer. Things like the Glock 19/17/45/47, Sig P320, S&W M&P, CZ P10, etc.

Glock 19 or 17 are usually the default recommendation for a first handgun (and for good reason). If you’re looking for something slightly cheaper, S&W or a Glock clone from PSA would probably be your best bet.

As with all of my gun selection advice, the most important thing is that you know how to use and operate it safely, and with that comes training. So pick a gun (or rent a few) and get out there and train/practice!

  • Dream Wall Pro — any info?
  • You could always grab one and then sell it if/when the pro is ever released. It’ll be interesting to see if products get launched any faster after announcing now that the EA Hardware program is gone, but in the past it would take a while for things to go GA. Better is the hardware that exists and can be bought today than the hardware that’s been announced with no known release date.

  • Dream Wall Pro — any info?
  • Who knows if it’s still coming, but I know that it never launched. People seem to be happy with the standard Dream Wall, but I have to wonder if it wasn’t quite popular enough for them to decide to launch the Pro version. Then again, Ubiquiti is pretty notorious for abandoning things after announcing or EAing them.
