Why I probably won't defederate from Threads
  • You have to remember that 40% of the US population is onboard with said genocides, so that's not a negative for them.

Then again, they're so imbued with the powers of fetal alcohol syndrome it's a wonder any of them reach voting age and beyond so whatever.

  • Why I probably won't defederate from Threads
  • Why does open source software have to do with anything? ActivityPub is a protocol. There's no licensing for it, any more than there is for HTML or POP3 or fuckin... I don't know... Jello shots? You just write your own software that adheres to the standard and BOOM Fediverse. The only "rules" to play by are the parts of the ActivityPub protocol that let you communicate between instances.

In other words, there are no actual rules that mean anything here. Meta's sole intent is to seep into the Fediverse like diarrhea into a bed while the drunken redneck idiot occupying sleeps off his whiskey dick.

You have to be willfully stupid to think they have anything positive to add to the world.

  • Why I probably won't defederate from Threads
  • "Defederating won’t save our data" No, but it will sure as shit make it that much more difficult to get to it. You and every other idiot making this stupid fucking point seem to have very little knowledge in how deep Meta's data scraping goes and how much data one particular instance can generate. Do YOU want these cunts generating a complete mental profile of you, determining what products you NEED in your life, and then spinning up a fucking bot to spam you with directed posts about whatever horseshit dick pill or bootleg t-shirt they were paid to promote to you? Want to keep that from happening? Well, you can either ban every bot that posts shit in your direction OR you can defederate the cunts and avoid it altogether.

"Federation saves me from using their app" Why is this even a fucking question? Who gives a shit about their app? Is there actually anything you're missing right now that you just so totally have to fucking see on Threads that you can't get elsewhere? Are you not aware how the internet works and that shit's going to be screentshot and posted to every fucking news outlet if it matters? Are your friends and family so actively stupid they couldn't figure out how to use a slightly different app to post on the instance you created yourself?

"I may have long hair, a beard and a bunch of machines that run GNU/Linux but I’m not Richard Stallman." Well I would HOPE that you wouldn't be a toe-cheese eating CSAM apologist. At least you've got that going for you.

"Federation forces them to play by the rules" AAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAHAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAH~ BAAHAHAHAH!~!!!! AHAHAHAHAHAH! HAHA! HAAA! HA. Ha. Hahaha. ha. Good one. Fuck off if you actually believe this.

There is no fucking reason to let these pricks have their way. Fuck them in the ear, then fuck 'em in the other ear.

  • Will threads mainstream the fediverse?
  • Because there are millions of fucking idiots that are willing to give a billionaire their personal information as long as they can share cat pictures with grandma.

All of them need to be rejected from society and placed in a temporary holding facility located 10 miles from the Apollo 11 landing site.

  • Will threads mainstream the fediverse?
  • Which is precisely why the Fediverse needs to shove a Fedidick straight into Borgboy's nasal cavity immediately.

Fuck Meta, fuck anyone that joins their fucking app, fuck the people that made the app, fuck everyone else that works there and perpetrates this massive fuckoff stain on humanity, fuck Zucc specifically, fuck billionaires generally, fuck yo' couch, and fuck this post.

  • How did Lemmy.world become more popular than Lemmy.ml?
  • Why the fuck do people equate being vehement with a fucking "bad day." Maybe I'm just not a wallpaper paste motherfucker and have stronger opinions than your average wankbag.

    I'm EXTRA STRENGTH WANKBAG.

  • How did Lemmy.world become more popular than Lemmy.ml?
  • Blow yourself some more. Your criticism is 100% invalid and you obviously have no fucking clue what's going on, anywhere, in any context. You're probably confused about the status of your socks, old man. I knew a guy! He wasn't either.

  • How did Lemmy.world become more popular than Lemmy.ml?
  • The difference is WHO FUCKING CARES? Do you not fucking get it? The fucking fediverse is not yours, mine, or theirs. If they don't want to be a part of it they DON'T FUCKING HAVE TO.

This is as stupid as shitting yourself in furious anger that a Linux user would dare to use Linux for mathematical computing instead of serving web pages because CLEEEEARLZY there's only one way to use the software and that's the way that you, Stumbler, personally choose to use it.

Are you even aware that there are instances that aren't federated? At all? Anywhere? Because you can do that. Because it's just software and who gives a shit how anyone else chooses to use it?

  • I want to believe
  • The conductivity doesn't mean a damn thing when it's plating some shit-tier alloy.

That corrosion resistance though... more than worth the price. I made that mistake on some monitors once. ONCE.

  • Lemmy resembles the old reddit experience so well that they even emulate the old reddit server performance
  • You are entirely ignorant of how anything works. There's no "liability" unless they seriously fuck a goat. Downtime is expected and, in fact, built into contracts. X amount of downtime for service, Y amount for unforeseen circumstances, Z amount for shiggles. There may be some prorating built into it, but even that will be after a certain amount of downtime.

No matter how you slice it the only reason anyone uses cloud services is to cut costs. There actual facts simply do not pan out when you're talking about security.
