GERMANY: Woman Convicted Of “Offending” Migrant Gang Rapists Receives Longer Prison Sentence Than The Rapists - The Publica
  • Europe is very Marxist, and the EU governments is very careful to not allow too much criticism of marginalized groups. Their soft justice system does not work with all cultures. To keep liberal society liberal, they feel they need to censor things to prevent a clash of cultures inside their own country. This is very common in a country like the UK where the perpetrator is treated like the victim and the victim the perpetrator with no evidence whatsoever to back up their conclusion. Minorities are a "protected class" that get preferential treatment. In the case of Germany, it is a culture of guilt due to the history of Nazism.

  • You can try Vertical Tabs in Firefox now
  • Vertical tabs are a good feature for modern desktop monitors. I tried it on MS Edge and Brave Browser. I have Tree Style Tabs on Firefox, but the problem I have is the horizontal tab bar is difficult to remove if for it not that is make break something during an update. Not only that, but I use Nightly as my primary browser.

  • US will send Ukraine another Patriot missile system after Kyiv's desperate calls for air defenses
  • A couple of Patriot systems isn't going to do much. The US only sent two Patriot systems so far? Why bother sending them if you are only going to send only two. The background behind this is that the Patriot system is cost prohibitive. It is impossible to rush these systems to Ukraine, as it would take years of accumulation.

  • Florida shines under DeSantis' leadership. His liberal critics should learn from him.
  • DeSantis marketed Florida with his own brand. Some things are outlandish, like the banning of fake meat. People do move to a state for the politics they agree with. People vote with their feet. CEOs change corporate headquarters because of politics. Talking with people who came from Hawaii, they decided to leave after the pandemic because of Draconian lockdowns. It seems the lockdowns really triggered the visible divisions on what is considered responsible government. You pay the expenses of living in the city, then you deal with authoritarian government that shutdown basically all your freedoms. That was the last straw for many. Florida did not do that and people saw that. The taxes are lower and the laws, for the most part, seem sensible. Disney threatened the marketing of the DeSantis brand and for that, it was taken to the woodshed. Ron does things to prove he is a conservative leader. No fence-sitting from him.

  • In the New Cold War, Europe’s Approach to China Is Already Outdated, Researchers Say
  • Since when did the US and NATO allowed sovereign governments to join anti-NATO and anti-US alliances? How is China an enemy? A nation that has at least 2,000 years of history, and does not have a colonial past the way Western countries had. China is the threat to US influence by de facto being a rising country that looks after its own interest. The US interferes all the time in other countries' politics. They interfered with Ukrainian politics and their elections. The US had involvement in the 2014 coup in Ukraine. What was Victoria Nuland doing on the ground in Ukraine, on vacation? The Russians have too much pride to let themselves be subservient to US interests the way EU countries are. Look at Germany, it tows the American line, and they're paying for it. Russia is not a threat to Germany. Russia is not at Germany's borders. You don't see T-90M tanks next door or missiles being aimed at them from next door. If Ukrainians respected democracy, they wouldn't have staged a coup against a democratic government. They banned Party of Regions. Why can't a country democratically vote to have economic ties with Russia? It is logical to have economic ties with your neighbors, even if you don't agree on things. Diplomacy is important. Democracy for thee, but not for me.

  • Risk of Suicide and Self-Harm Following Gender-Affirmation Surgery - PubMed
  • There is no scientific consensus that gender-affirming care fixes the mental problems of transgenders. Psychological problems are complex. You cannot determine the cause of dysphoria accurately all the time. What people think will make them happy, does not make them happy, and what makes them sad isn't always clear, because the right questions are not asked, or the answers are abstained. It is also clear that this type of dysphoria extends beyond perception of themselves, but what they expect from other people perceiving them. This doesn't appear much different than a weird or different looking person being ostracized. Teens have suicidal ideation that have nothing to do with gender identity. Yet, how do we treat those versus transgender youths?

  • In the New Cold War, Europe’s Approach to China Is Already Outdated, Researchers Say
  • Why? I follow the truth. I don't have the patriotic motivation to deny the truth. Some people are patriotic enough to risk a nuclear war, others are patriotic enough to bomb defenseless people, and sow conflict against non-threats. China and Russia are not threats to national security of Europe or the US, but if you want to them to be, keep treading on the same path.

  • Javier Milei Delivers Argentina’s First Surplus in Over a Decade—and US Media Is Silent
  • Argentina has had chronic inflation problems because it is the culture of Argentina. The locals don't like capitalism and believe democracy will fix all their problems. As far as I know, the vote wasn't for capitalism or economic freedom, but to fix the inflation problem. The only way for a South American country like Argentina or Chile to have a long-term free market oriented economy is by authoritarian control. Milei is a protest vote. The common Argentine wants something to be fixed by the government without any energy expended from themselves. They also don't follow rules. They have provinces that ignore and protest, and revolt against central government policy. Another thing that tells the extent of which Argentinians loved government security, that even Milei's reforms don't target all the spending with cuts, but with devaluation; the "blender" in his economic plan, not because he does not want to. I don't see this going very far.

  • In the New Cold War, Europe’s Approach to China Is Already Outdated, Researchers Say
  • The comprehensive clarity of the lengthy statement goes beyond the mere reiteration of Putin’s talking points. It boils down to an explicit statement of intent – namely, Beijing’s intent to work with Moscow in undermining Europe’s security at a moment when the EU has communicated that Russia’s war against Ukraine is an “existential” threat to Europe.

Russia is not an "existential" threat to Europe. Russia is a threat to NATO expansion. Who is shooting missiles into whose territory? Who tried to sneak Aegis defense systems into expanding NATO in 2008? That same year, Georgia, and Ukraine were announced as the continuation of NATO expansion. Russia is not shooting missiles into NATO countries. The country that postures nuclear strike is a hint who is the defensive country. NATO is threatening Russia with conventional arms, not nuclear arms, because nuclear weapons are defensive in nature in global affairs; Pakistan has nuclear weapons, China has nuclear weapons, India has nuclear weapons. India and Pakistan are enemies. China and India are enemies.

Europe needs to quickly come to grips with a China that both openly supports Russia’s imperial war and works with Moscow to end NATO’s presence in Eastern Europe.

The Diplomat continues using the myth that this Ukraine conflict is the result of "imperialism". This conflict is to maintain the sovereignty of Russia in the face of its enemies. The conflict is about NATO expansion, not Russian expansion. Ukraine is the redline that Russia does not accept to be crossed. NATO, the EU, were fully aware of this expansion of NATO was to sow the seeds of conflict years before 2014. We have something called web archives and WikiLeaks that prove this narrative versus the false narrative of Western media. A spade is a spade.
