Thomas Matthew Crooks: The registered Republican and gun lover who shot Trump
  • I heard people saw him, including the SS, but they waited to make sure he had an actual gun so they didn't just waste a kid.

But I have a hard time believing that cuz if they have to wait until someone takes a shot before they do anything then what's the point of even having security?

  • TIL: There are 27.4 Empty Homes for Each Homeless Person in the U.S
  • You might think if a company has tons of empty houses or more likely apartments that the company is losing money because nobody is paying rent but that's not entirely accurate.

Companies do take losses since they have to pay property tax and stuff but they just use that as a tax write off against their profits so they don't have to pay as much in taxes so it's not even a complete loss for them. :/

  • Hi-Fi Rush - Early Concept Art
  • Dude they made like a 50% profit on the game and they said it wasn't profitable enough. Not that it lost money or anything, it made money, a lot of it, just not ENOUGH money for papa Microsoft.

    The greed is just insane.

  • Long Cow is coming
  • There's an idea about "autistic ai" or something where you give ai an objective like "get a person from point a to b as fast as you can" and the ai goes so fast the g force kills the person but the ai thinks it was a success because you never told it to keep the person alive.

Though I suppose that's more human error. Something we take as a given but a machine will not.

  • This stuff about the price reductions after 4 years of blatant gouging is really freaking me out
  • Thank you for posting this. I feel the same way but I'm not sure what to do about it :/ I already try to spend as little as possible. I've thought about trying to make a vegetable garden cuz in a way it's free food but just haven't :/

I wonder what will happen when they squeeze so hard nobody has anything left? How will they stay in business when nobody has money? Do they think every other company will go out of business but they'll be fine? What do they think the end game will be?

  • Male birth control gel is safe and effective, new trial findings show
  • I got a vasectomy and it was crazy easy. Had a meeting with my doc just so he could make sure I knew it was permanent, I asked if I could have something extra for the pain and dude was like "I can give you vallium is that alright?" Showed up day of, took like 30 mins and didn't feel a thing. Only thing was the smell of burning flesh was a little much but that was literally it.

My partner wants some form of permanent BC herself but literally no doctor will allow it.

  • It's been around a year since a lot of us quit Reddit, myself included. I'm happy with Lemmy, but I still feel a bit lost online since leaving the old site. Discussion?
  • I used reddit is fun, haven't really been back outside the occasional Google search that links a post. It sucks and I do miss it, kind of like an old ex you look back fondly on but things just didn't work out. I used to spend HOURS on the site and while lemmy is nice for keeping up with general world events and memes it just isn't the same.

I like to rationalize that it helps keep me in the real world instead of spending most of my time on an app. Oh and sticking to a principle and trying to support those 3rd party app creators.
