Yeah, I had to renew through a setting in yunohost, got used to panels/managers doing it automatically or letting me paste it in
Yeah I had to click renew manually in yunohost, just assumed if porkbun showed it as valid it would work, my panels for wordpress mightve been doing it automatically lol
yes https://lemmy.rip/ works fine
forsure I thought it had one through porkbun but yunohost might be messing with that
I was posting when I should've been lurking lol, half my posts/comments as a kid are gibberish
Can you login to the mobile apps with selfhosted Lemmy?
It was easy enough to do it with self hosted mastodon, cant seem to login to any of the Lemmy apps with my selfhosted website? Lemmy.rip
UPDATE: I had to renew through a setting in yunohost, not automatic, porkbun was showing it as valid and I I'm used to them grabbing it automatically or having me paste it in during setup.
Are there any fediverse games at all?
Is there a mmo equivalent of the fediverse?
Growing up I used to play aqworlds and it was super common in my online friend group at the time for everyone to host their own private servers on their own websites, once I got into the fediverse and webhosting again, I was reminded of it and it got me thinking how cool it would be to have a browser 2d mmo where people hosted their own servers.
Is there a game that implements activityhub at all? Like where server chat can be read and sent from something like mastodon.
I realize this is a stretch and something like this doesn't make sense or exist, just curious.
How do I federate
I setitup using Runtipi, I can login to the iphone apps with my account, message/follow myself on mastodon.social, but how do I actually federate and see other instances posts, I've never had to do it before, so I'm confused.
Corporations might accidentally help if they try to make their own instancss, like if you sign up with google to join the fediverse, realize most instances block googles because its corporate, then they make an account at non corporate version.
I think the best way for it to grow would be making it easy to self host, yunohost maes it pretty easy, but more managed hosting options competing or more of the big ones offering it would go a long way.
seems alright, doesnt have any fediverse apps for easy install tho (which Is why I even use yunohost over anything else)
Cosmos's lemmy app is outdated and doesn't work, yunohost is the only webclient type thing I've tried that has lemmy and works. Yunohost also has most other services like sharkey, pleroma, peertube, etc. and lets you easily install multiple services on one server with different domains. Only downside is it doesn't have multiserver management like the rest, but the rest have no app support for fediverse stuff outside of mastodon.
If you don't know how to do a lot of the docker stuff yourself, coolify, dokploy, runtipi, etc. aren't really a possibility, they don't work with ansibile, or the easy install without modifications (that idk how to do, I have yet to suceed)
What do you use for torrents, after rarbg died I became dependent on tracker addons
This is dirrectly from the torrents tho? So torrentgalaxy or whatever tracker that torrent came from would be the issue
Ppl think white lighters are bad so you can peel off the sticker and use it that way, no one steals them
Never buy hella lighters just one you're forced to keep track of
Just going to be annoying discussing anything I read online without ppl chiming in about how the author sucks, basically forced to talk about his work in fringe communities that support the author too much
At least they cant ban the already created books, I barelt started reading them preaallegations and have been looking forward to them forever, not like they are suddenly going to be bad after being reccomended them 100s of times
It really should bring over top posts only, that aren't questions
Was it for anime? Stremio with an anime plugin works decent, but you do gotta pay for realdebrid for it to be fast.
best bets probably an aliexpress phone that you dont use as a phone
My issue with a lot of these solutions is just being new and not knowing what im doing, like outside of hetzner im not sure how to specify a seperate volume, the way these services are worded Im nervous about losing all my data by not doing the file/mount stuff correctly.
How long have smaller communities required opening the app to view them?
"Unreviewed content" just seems like a lame excuse to force people to use the app.
Is there a hypervisor that supports installing fediverse apps?
Like mastadon, peertube, akomma, etc. and having them run off one server?
I've found Yunohost, runtipi, caprover, and portainer (if using docker?) as potential options. They at least support one or two fediverse apps. Has anyone had any luck with them? I just got used to the idea of using a vps hypervisor/panel to manage multiple servers or having multiple sites on one server and was wondering if there was something like that for the fediverse side.
Does content for organic ads need to be original?
Like if I don't own a product, could I clip other ppl using it (and edit them together) (not posted on the site selling the product, on the social media pages) and use that to organically grow an audience for a website through social media.
Was wondering about the legality, since I'm not making money directly off their content for the social media pages, its to show ppl using the same product and draw them to the link on my website where they can get the same product. Would I be fine if I just never monotized the social media pages?
Pleroma vs Misskey vs Mastadon
Thinking of hosting one for myself and was wondering what the downsides of each are. Do they all interact fine with each other? Can I log into mastadon apps with misskey/pleroma accounts? Is it like lemmy where the app specifically needs to support mbin (interstellar) to use that account?
Which one requires the least resources? I'm on ios so I'll likely gravitate towards whichever one works best with ios apps. I do see that sora sns seems to support all of them + bluesky.
How does Piefed compare to Mbin
I thought they was supposed to be similar but I don't see microblogs in piefed? Is Piefed closer to lemmy?
How should I be accessing the fediverse to get the most "federated" experience
The idea is cool with all the apps interconnecting, but where do I go to actually see this in practice. Does the cross communication only work on platforms like Mbin/piefed, or am I not seeing something.
I keep hearing thanks to activity pub posts here can be seen and replied to from elsewhere, but I haven't seen it.
Hosting multiple types of fediverse instances on the same server?
Can I rent an 8 core 16gb vps and then put friendica, mbin, mastodon, and lemmy on it? Can I somehow use the same site to login to all of them or would it be like m.site, l.site, etc.
I use a hypervisor? enhance.com rnow to control my wordpress sites, can I still monitor/backup the servers with enhance while manually setting up fediverse instances? I could setup roles like nginx, mariadb, through it and when I do that it lets me easily setup, backup, and migrate websites to different servers I lose this functionality if I dont set up those roles through the panel. So I was wondering if I can set up those roles and then just setup the websites manually through ssh following the guides. Do they all use nginx other than friendica?
Interested in friendica, mbin, lemmy, mastodon, and peertube (going to rent another server and more storage eventually if I do that
Did not expect the reveal in the last Dexter Orginal Sin episode
Honestly, the last person I expected, maybe I just haven't watched a lot of shows with twists lately
What do you miss and wish was brought back?
For me its bk sliders, loved those growing up. Apparently the patties were too small and would fall through the grill.
Taildrop is very convenient for sharing files between servers/devices
Someone mentioned it in a comment and I genuinely didn't know what I was setting up, but its basically airdrop but to all your devices/servers so if you have an iphone like me you can goto any photo/file click share, taildrop, then pick the device, its a prettty fast transfer. It shows up in the downloads folder on my pc by default.
I no longer have to upload to icloud files to grab my files, it is very convenient and seems to be free forever for personal use up to 100 devices? I had no idea what I was even setting up til I saw the guide afterwards, I thought it was for monitoring server health, but it's made sharing files between devices/servers very convenient. (this was likely obvious, just wanted to share with others who didn't know)
Guides for hosting sites in Fediverse and federating?
Are they all gathered in one place somewhere or does it all need to be found case by case? Intrested in hosting a mastadon, pixelfed, and peertube instance. What are the vps requiremnts? I do like the idea of hosting all my own posts/comments, etc.
What new releases are you guys listening to right now?
Really enjoying the new Tape B and Knock2 albums.
What chair are you guys using?
I started off with a gaming chair pl6800 vertagear that fell apart pretty fast and was abusing my body for a year. (metal jabbing, foam sinking, etc.)
Swapped to a Knoll Generation (renewed for 300 from officelogixshop with issues, they definitely arent remanufactued, seems like they buy them used and clean the main bits to make them look like new) Its pretty amazing as someone who fidgets a lot, being able to stretch with my arms back is insanely comforting because the bucket seat was making me a hunchback. This chair specifically was the best move going from a gaming chair because the back bends, its like the exact opposite of a gaming chair.
It is used and definitely feels off, they sent me a replacement and told me to donate the first one (height adjustment didnt work, new one creaks) But even then its a massive improvement over the gaming chair that was supposedly made for big ppl. (im 240 5'10) The seat while thin is suprisingly comfortable for 8 hours of use daily and I can sit with one leg over the other. I might buy a cushion tho. This was my first "real" chair purchase and its suprisingly decent not being a steelcase amia/leap (havent tried both but its all anyone on reddit talks about)
Realizing how much I dislike awards now that I don't see them all the time
They 100% influenced my opinion, there is no credibility behind the type of person that purchases reddit gold to give awards to the opinions they want to lift up above others. Rewards for comments that have to be purchased have no place in a forum.
App that syncs email accounts?
So all of these apps like gmail, outlook, etc. let me login to all of my websites different emails but none of them seem to sync across devices. Is there an app that lets me login to all my inboxes once and then sync that logininfo across pc, iphone, and android?
Right now I have to manually add all the email accounts in to each device, none of the mobile apps sync to their pc counterparts.
What live action adaptation do you want to be made?
I wish the Valiant universe rights weren't all over the place, the reboot would make an amazing cinematic universe.
Always wanted to see a black mirror like anthology for Dial H for Hero, and after reading Astro City, it could definitely also be an amazing anthology series. (if it had the budget)
I asked live action specifically, since I genuinely believe any comic could be great animated. (if it had the time and budget lol)
