This is fantastic, especially the dead man’s switch part.
After I’m Gone Backup Solution
Recently I have decided that the backup solution I have been using is far too complex for my family to figure out when I die. I began writing documentation on how they can access photos, videos, documents and so on. In that process I thought, I gotta make this simple.
I’m thinking of just having two 10TB drives in RAID 1 on my desktop that get backed up to Backblaze via restic. Backblaze and similar cloud storage providers can send you a copy of your data for recovery. I think I can sufficiently document this process.
Has anyone else come up with a similar process?
I’ve been living under a rock, what’s the deal with sync?
And for the record I freaking loved Bill Paxton, in this movie and about all of his work.
Bill Paxton isn’t.
I love abandoned and overgrown stuff. Looks like someones project car they never found the time for.
I’m happy the deck has them. I use them in FPS and some other genres and couldn’t imagine playing those without them, being a former PC only player. Coupled with gyro, it is a great experience.
I created an itinerary from the CKA topics, much like a school course. Then blocked off my calendar each week to take on each “lesson”. I got the CKA certification as a result. Then in my job I get continual experience to grow my skills.
Thanks. I know little about Wacom tablets. Was thinking maybe it could be used as a touchpad with your finger.
Are you using the Wacom as a pointing device?
It’s not an answer to your question, but I’ve gone down a similar path before. In the end, I just do it the old way using some sites and you can use tabula rasa to keep things organized. I have the same approach for music.
Hmm how do we share a photo that is immediately visible?
I think setting up walls at this point, like, “You can’t share pictures here— do that over at XYZ”, will only discourage people from joining the community. Maybe as activity picks up and more people want to have a stand-alone, “critique my photo” community, then they can do that.
I haven’t used mine in a while and it hasn’t been reclaimed. I used it with tail scale to access home services remotely. I stopped doing that but left some things running. It has Navidrome running on it too but I don’t access it.
Truenas Scale to Backblaze b2 via built in cloud sync backup which I believe is rclone. Healthchecks.io warns me when it doesn’t run. Truenas emails me when an error occurs.
Never mind… the reservations button couldn’t be more obvious.
Hadn’t heard of Callie. I didn’t find a reservation link on their site, but I imagine there’s a long wait.
