How NG+ affects gameplay
I'm currently on NG+8 (at 120 hours played) I think and it's funny how i'm becoming like the other starborn just rushing all the artifacts and not caring about anything. I could probably do it in two hours per but I do get distracted.
Currently level 75-ish (can't remember exactly) and I do get sucked into at least upgrading weapons, and in the Starborn Guardian the final space battle can be rough so I also end up getting the Razorleaf and working on getting it to C class stuff. But realy the upgraded weapons aren't necessary, can usually find a good-enough weapon getting the artifacts.
But the artifact chase means there's no point in building anything as it'll just be gone. Sometimes I think I'll chill on this run, but then i've gotten all the artifacts and it's close enough to finishing one more time that I eventually just go for it.
I've become just like the other starborn - building relationships is pointless, interacting with merchants is annoying. Phased Time VII is godlike - these stupid mortals need to get out of my way.
Skyrim references?
Given that the quest turns out to be a joke that they do on newbies, to me it kinda also feels like they are pulling a joke on the player. Like, it first looks like there is some magic item that the player has to retrieve, like one would do in Skyrim. But then it turns out like haha it's just a joke, did you really think there were magic items in space? Is there a concrete Skyrim quest this could be a reference to?
I also feel the same about the scientist in New Atlantis, the one with the tree. Reminds me of the nettlebane quest.
Do you have any other quests you think could be Skyrim references?
A Legacy Forged
Sooooo, I'm sworn to secrecy about the war criminal in the basement, so I keep looking for an opportunity to take someone with clearance to the side and let them know about the truly nasty shenanigans he's been up to without breaking OpSec. And I keep looking. And then the quest ends.
As best I can tell, the only way to let anyone know about what I've learned is to blab it out in front of people who the state has good reason not to want in on it. In my country of origin, this gets you buried underneath Fort Leavenworth.
Anyone else find this one somewhat devoid of the "right" option? I'm really enjoying this game, but this particular quest strikes me as a missed note.
To Commander Ikande
"Look me in the eyes and tell me why you did it."
You should fucking know, Commander. 500 credits. That's why.
Remember when you pulled me aside and sat me down for our little chat through the glass? I told you, all I wanted to do was pay my 500c bounty and go.
You said, no, not this time.
You said, I want dirt on the Fleet.
You said, I want to take down the Fleet, and you're going to help me.
You know what they say about negative bias, and that was a real fucking negative introduction.
That brings us to now, with my gun pointed at your head, my new associates eyeing gleefully their new quarters aboard this august vessel.
Look me in the eyes, motherfucker. Because I like that look when you realize you vastly fucked up. Your command is ours now. Half your men are dead, the other half in lifeboats.
All over 500 credits.
Boys, haul him off.
Silly question thatâs a major spoiler for main questline

___Can the adoring fan from the âhero worshippedâ trait be the one to die during the main quest âHigh Price to Payâ?
Anybody else finding themselves reloading an old save after this specific mission?đ
SPOILERS LAST CHANCE
Last night I completed the mission A High Price to Pay, and boy, that messed me up. Had to stop playing the game and go to bed, and now tonight I'm reloading an old save to change my mistakes. The companion I had just married a little while ago died, because at the last second I didn't go to The Eye. I am justifying it as a Final Destination-esque vision my character had. Anyone else do that after this quest?
One of my favorite game endings of all time!
Anyone else really love the ending? I'd thought it would sort of go down something like that, but I just found it was well executed. I think the best part was how it ushers you into the NG+ with your cool ship and how you can short circuit the main story - looking forward to seeing if there's any other NG+ differences!
It's funny if I replay other games I just get on with it, but starting in that ship and having it acknowledged and being able to do things differently (story wise) just slotted me right into the lore of Unity - like everyone chill everything's going to be all right in the end.
So, are the devs Hot Wheels Acceleracer fans?
I haven't gotten very far into the game, but I have seen the powers and it reminds me a lot of The Wheel Of Power from Hot Wheels: World Race and Hot Wheels Acceleracers
I applaud Bethesda for creating one of the best "Sophie's choice" moment in gaming

I mean, putting two companions with highest affinity in mortal danger and having time to save only one is brutal, since most of the time, the characters that die in games are predetermined and players may or may not care about them.
But putting two characters that player spend most time playing with, that makes it lot personal. Even ME2 and the Suicide mission did not force you to make such brutal choice, you could always sent someone you do not like to die.
It's not binary choice like Wolfenstein either, where at the start you choose one guy who dies from two guys you knew half and hour and that somewhat alters the story.
You sacrifice someone you spend lot of time with and will probably be pissed/sad for the rest of the game he is not with you anymore.
Overall, Bethesda has come long way since Skyrim when it comes to telling stories, most of the time, Bethesda games stories were weakest link, but Starfield manages to put together really good (not great) story

Final reminder about spoiler policy!
Hi all,
For those of us with Early Access we get our hands on the game in a matter of hours. Therefore I'd like to remind everyone about our spoiler policy.
Spoiler policy:
- No spoilers in titles; if you want to share images with spoilers, preferably post the image in the body of the post. If you do make an image post, mark it NSFW.
- Add [Spoilers] to your title if there will be untagged spoilers in the post.
- Game mechanics and general discoveries (ship parts, weapons, etc) donât need a spoiler tag.
- Details about questlines and other story related content are spoilers. Use your best judgement!
We'll be keeping a close eye and handing out warnings to first-time offenders, and bans to repeat offenders.
Remember - spoilers are OK as long as they are tagged properly. Images of spoilers need to be tagged NSFW so they don't automatically load for people.
