What's a small cleared space in a forest where people can live called?
Say there's a forest, but there's a small cleared area where a family can build a place to live. What's the geographical term for that?
Edit: The word I was looking for was a clearing. A glen was suggested as well, but that is a space between rolling hills, while the space I was thinking of was on flat land.
Thank you everyone!
What would be a good glue to repair this spatula with that wont be toxic or come undone in a dishwasher?
Edit: I decided to throw it out and order a new stainless steel one that's all one piece. Thanks for the help!
Do "chest pillows" hurt for women to do?
I see fan-art or scenes of a woman using her chest as basically a pillow for someone. It's cute and all, but I can't help think if that hurts for the woman, especially if her breasts are large?
Do any ATMs in Belgium support balance inquiries?
ATMs I’ve checked:
BNP Paribas: no balance inquiry option. Nor did it print the balance on the receipt.
Attijariwafa: no balance inquiry option. Both ATMs are always out of paper, so no way to check whether the balance would be printed on the receipt. Anti-feature: you must enter your PIN before it shows you the menu. Does that mean it connects to my bank even in the absense of a transaction?
Ing: no longer has ATMs? KBC: no longer has ATMs? \#Belfius: no longer has ATMs? (answered) Aion: only has 1 ATM (unplugged & vandalized) Europabank: has no ATMs? DHB bank: has no ATMs? Fintro: ATM is the same as BNP Parabas? BBVA: do they still exist? Bank of Baroda: has no ATMs? Beobank: didn’t check if they have any ATMs Keytrade: likely has no ATMs BinckBank: likely has no ATMs
Batopin (3rd party w/Ing & KBC): no balance inquiry option.
This website claims to give a way to check your balance, but I’m not so trusting:
I keep seeing the initials "ig" in comments. They clearly don't mean "Instagram". What does "ig" mean then?
Additionally, the example link above is a hyperlink to the permalink of a comment, but it doesn't work. Any idea on how to link to a comment?
Why is the consumption of Meat considered bad
I heard something to do with Nitrogen and …cow farts(?) I am really unsure of this and would like to learn more.
Answer -
4 Parts
- Ethical reason for consuming animals
- Methane produced by cows are a harmful greenhouse gas which is contributing to our current climate crisis
- Health Reasons - there is convincing evidence that processed meats cause cancer
- it takes a lot more calories of plant food to produce the calories we would consume from the meat.

Feed Question: How Does The Subscribe/Block Communities Feature Work?
I have tons of things showing up in my feed from communities that I am not subscribed to.
Is there a way to set it only to subscribed communities or do I have to block any community that I am not interested in?
Also, are there any other side-effects from blocking a community besides it not showing up in my feed?
How do I subscribe to communities of other Lemmy instances?
On another Lemmy instance, I saw that I was not logged in but could subscribe by putting "[email protected]" into the search field. However, when I put it into the search field of this Lemmy instance, it gives me a comment containing that string, but does not allow me to subscribe.
What is the correct way to do it?
Is there a way to stop feeds from auto updating?
If I'm sitting on lemmy.world All and even if I change to Top > Day, new posts pop up and move my feed down, making it annoying to read or click on things. Active is near impossible to do anything on All and that limits my ability to see new things. New activity also minimizes any images I've clicked on to look at, so I can't even casually browse. I want it to only update if I refresh
