I would be surprised if you hadn't heard this track from this "virtual band" created by Damon Albarn from Blur and artist Jamie Hewlett.
Although I know the song because of its popularity at the time, it completely escaped my attention that De La Soul appear on it!. It's pretty catchy.

Sons And Daughters - Dance Me In
A bit rockabilly, a bit goth, a little bit Bad Seeds with a dash of folkiness, Glasgow's Sons and Daughters had 4 very good albums released during their 11 year career. I was lucky enough to see them on a couple of occasions.

Very catchy, IMO. Something in the track sort of makes me think of David Byrne, is it just me?

Sigur Rós - Hoppípolla
This is from the album Takk… and is the song that brought them to a broader audience than the indie nerds who had found them after they were touted as the Icelandic Radiohead. I would like to know the stats on how many nature documentaries and sports highlights this song has been the soundtrack to.
Although "post-rock" isn't my biggest jam, you have to admire what they have achieved in their career, especially reaching an audience who doesn't understand either the Icelandic language or the improvised language "Hopelandic" that appears in the songs. I genuinely like to dip into their back catalogue.

Brazil’s Cansei De Ser Sexy AKA CSS released this as a single in 2005 and on their debut album. What tickled me about this initially is that it refers to the Canadian band Death From Above 1979. I had bought their 2004 debut album You're a Woman, I'm a Machine because of a recommendation of a Canadian friend and was super surprised to see them referenced by a band from Sao Paolo!
Anyhow, great song and album.

Ladytron - Destroy Everything You Touch
This group formed in Liverpool in 1999 with English, Scottish and Bulgarian members. They have released 7 studio albums, to date. At times they are reminiscent of the sound of more recent Metric tunes, but I don’t know if there’s any connection, it’s probably coincidental.
This song slotted in at #137 on Pitchfork's "The Top 500 Tracks of the 2000s" list.
